I'm actually interested in both of those, pending decent specs.
The Messenger is as interesting as any Joan of Arc movie, if you approach it from the theological perspective. Or a historical one. So many filmmakers made the story of a poor saint wrongfully condemned to death by the Inquisition -- but Besson actually dared to ask how this same poor saint could have lead thousands of men into bloody battles. This is just one aspect of his take on things that none of the critics cared for at the time, or since. And once film critics cease to be intellectually curious, we get -- well, we get what we have these days.
Nikita (I believe that La Femme is a purely US addition to the title) is an excellent genre piece, of course. This is the film where Besson ceased to make films that are merely pretty to look at. Of course, he has since recanted, which probably accounts for his deliberately low-IQ output of this decade.
A pity, really. But I'll get both of these to show my support for a smarter, more challenging Besson. And knowing it's Sony, I'll enjoy them thoroughly.
