I own both (but I will give away the Australian release). First of all: Both discs look very good. I made a very small comparison and there are minor differences though:
AU left / US right (both shots taken by me with the same settings):
The Australian release is a bit brighter and the US has more saturated colors in some places. But you can only notice this in direct comparison. In direct comparison I do prefer the US release. The Australian release also comes with some minor problems in the opening: There are some strange brightened black bars during the starting credits and there is a brightened right bar during one label clip at the beginning of the movie (both are minor problems IMO). The US release comes with slightly expanded black bars. Other than that, I can not spot any relevant differences.
