Well that is a little disappointing, but I'll see here in a couple days what I think.

I wouldn't think the sound be 100X better. It might be slightly. I don't trust the 7.1 for there. They got to be 4 channel simulated into 7.1

How would you rate the subtitles? I watched one Johnnie To's films on cable the other day, and some of the translations had me scratching my head. It didn't happen often though.

I told Gary Tooze of DVDBeaver.com on HTF about these two so he'll have them up on the Beav soon.

Those don't seem to look bad at all. They actually look fairly good for the production quality of those movies.

I'm watching The Big Boss right now. My only experience with these Lee films is from the Fox VHS/DVD releases, so bare with me.

PQ is quite good, a definite step up from the Fox DVDs. I'm unfamiliar with the translations on the subtitles for the DVDs, but some of these have me scratching my head. I'm at the beginning of the film, when the thugs are bothering the girl at the drink stand. The thugs are asking for "hot beer". Then the boy is trying to sell "hot dumplings".

Oh well, back to the movie...

Just checked the subtitles for the Big Boss on the Fortune Star/Fox ultimate collection DVD that I have and the subtitles are the same as you described.

The thugs are asking for hot beer from her and will pay double. I'm not entirely sure why they are asking for hot beer. I know some places do not add ice to beverages because the melting ice affects the flavor. However, in these cases, the beverage is sold ice cold.

I haven't ordered these yet myself as being broke at the moment affects my purchasing decisions.

clicking on the link did not work for me either, so I copied and pasted the link into the address bar and that did work.
