Way back in old days (before blu-ray) a large percentage of Asian DVD releases came with DTS 6.1 as the standard sound track. It seemed to be the most popular sound choice in that part of the world. I could never understand why North American releases seldom used DTS 6.1 as it was the best possible sound for DVD. Now flash forward to today and blu-ray , the Asian releases (many of them) use lossless 7.1 soundtracks Hollywood likes to think they are the world leaders in home video but they blow chunks................................... ARE YOU LISTENING WARNER BLUNDERS

Ya , I think the final battle will be so wild (unfortunately so wild I believe 2 extras were killed in the filming)
I hope a large part of it involves all the ships shown at the end of Part 1

45 dollars was too cost for me, plus there's 1 more movie needed come too. Where will U.S. release this? John Woo is a know director in the U.S. he shoun't had no problem getting attention here unlike other chinese film.

DDDhouse price of Red Cliff shipped to U.S. about 35 total, yesasia has lower the price to 40. I would wait till second part out, so they can come out both movie in one package.

But this is such a great movie , I think waiting that long is cruel and unusual punishment
Part 2 doesn't open in the theaters in China until January , so don't expect it on blu ray until the second half of 2009

I watched this last weekend and it's a great movie. Worth the price of $35 if you collect movies and enjoy Asian cinema epics. The audio and video is definitely top notch. It has replay value for me and I'll be watching it again this coming weekend.

Right on HD 335 , I would rate this as 5 stars across the board for "The Movie" , PQ , and AQ

The US theatrical release isn't till spring, and will be a sliced to ribbons condensing of the two parts. If you're on the fence, wait for some kind of discounted 2-pack of both parts

Just watched the two parts again, and all I have to say is this movie is epic. I have watched 3 times now and it is definitely a classic.

Default Just ordered Red Cliff(special edition) from the UK for $16 bucks!

I was on the fence about this film since John Woo has been mostly a hack. However, I like Asian epics and the long version of this gets good reviews. I just grabbed it from Amazon UK for $16.05 to my door here in the USA!

Good buy for that price. Even if I dont like it I can recoup most costs selling used. The US release comes out in a month or whatever but will be $22.99 plus stoopid NYS sales tax. Screw that!
