I don't care about the weapons too much (except for that ice pick lol). I'm looking forward to the new attachments, like the heart beat sensor and the master key . I totally forgot about those smaller online co-op missions, so now i'm waiting for some new info on that.

I bet the Bushmaster ACR and the FN SCAR will be my new best friends.

Yeah, I'd like to stick the ice pick in the eye of some enemy. Lets just hope that the co op will be a shot in the arm (or should I say, head?).

We need more sniper rifles, and the ability to switch firing bursts (full auto, 3-round, single-shot) on all weapons.

Selective fire shouldn't be on every gun but it should be on weapons that support it. Like the MP5 and M16.

Agreed!! I wonder if it's a balance issue that makes IW select some guns to be fixed on a certain firing mode. Either way, I say let every gun be as accurate as possible.

lol It just so happens IGN has played the mode on a PC:

Quote:
One of the biggest games of this holiday season, Infinity Ward's follow-up to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, was shown off in a behind-closed-doors session at Gamescom 2009 this year, with a focus on the co-op special ops mode. From the main menu you get the option to dive into single player, multiplayer, and special ops modes, which according to Infinity Ward means that special ops is just as important a mode as the other two. It's a completely separate mode too, meaning it doesn't link with the others for unlocks or anything like that, and in it you've got the option to play split screen locally, solo, or online with a friend.

The mode is broken into different groups of missions, and for the demo we saw one in the Charlie group called Breach and Clear. The mode overall is meant to be a high-intensity but brief segment of gameplay in the vein of something like the mile high club in Call of Duty 4. Regular, hardened, and veteran difficulties are available, and you earn stars by completing a mission on each difficulty setting, with veteran earning you three. These stars are then used to unlock more special ops missions.

The objective in Breach and Clear is simply to survive and make it to the end point of the level. There's a section in the beginning where you can choose from a few different weapons strewn about on the ground, reminiscent of a Left 4 Dead ammo dump. After a red dot scope assault rifle was chosen, a charge was placed on a wall, detonated, and the action kicked into gear. While the smoke was clearing a slow motion effect took over that gave the player a better look at some of the guards nearby. Firing grenades from the launcher mounted under the gun, the slow motion effect wore off as enemies poured into what seemed to be a shower room that looked almost identical to the one from The Rock. Enemies took cover on the behind walls and fired from a balcony above, with red laser beams making their lines of sight more obvious.

Also in the stage was a riot shield, which could be picked up and used as mobile cover to enter into crowded rooms. It could also be used as a melee weapon, with an initial bump serving to daze the enemy, and a follow up slam knocking them out for good. Stun grenade detonations and melee knife kills rounded out the fight.

Then the demo player dropped down a hole in the floor and the stage was over. A statistics screen showed the total run time had been two minutes, 20 kills were made, and the demo was over. While Infinity Ward isn't yet saying how many missions are being included in the game, it seems like there'll be quite a few. Unfortunately no details were made available concerning the rest of the single-player campaign or multiplayer, so we'll have to wait for more.

Yes Heartbeat sensor is a perk like camo or stopping power

I wanted to clarify the supposed “news” coming out of GameCom this morning regarding no MW2 Beta.

First, nothing has technically changed by this news. As I’ve told you many times in the past, expect no Public Beta unless we announce otherwise. That is still the case. We would never say something as definitive as “No Beta Ever!” as that’s simply not how we work. We’ll do an internal beta, if we feel a public one is needed, we’ll explore that route as well.

It is true that we have not announced a Public Beta for MW2, and that remains true unless I announce otherwise.

However, while no Public Beta is currently announced we do plan on running an extensive Closed Beta among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide. The internal beta will allow us all the benefits of a public beta test without the impact it takes on the time required to prep, distribute, & manage a public beta during this crucial time in development.

Remember, Multiplayer has been in development since Day 1 of working on Modern Warfare 2, and this is the essential run up to launch when we’re playing everyday, hammering away on it to make sure it’s as polished as can be by launch. As always, our internal QA team has daily multiplayer tests in addition to company-wide nightly MP tests we hold from the moment MP is in a running state throughout development.

Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn’t receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect. We would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned.

That said, any fears that no Public Beta will result in any quality loss in the final multiplayer game is completely unfounded; Multiplayer has always been and will always remain a major focus for the team at Infinity Ward and we would never ship a product we didn’t feel lived up to the high standards we hold ourselves to.

While we love public betas for all the obvious reasons, an internal Closed Beta allows us the extra freedom and flexibility to give the entire multiplayer a chance to be widely beta tested without requiring excess development time simply to prep the game for public release instead of an internal beta test which is ran on dev kits / test kits. That fact alone, allows us to have a smoother and faster process of iteration when addressing issues and pushing fixes out to beta participants.

This decision allows us to deliver a more polished experience, which in the end, is what we all want.

Stay informed on Multiplayer

We’ll be filming plenty of Multiplayer videos for you to get a glimpse of new perks, features, killstreak rewards, and other additions you can look forward to in Modern Warfare 2’s Multiplayer. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed (@fourzerotwo) for when we post new videos and subscribe to the Official Infinity Ward YouTube channel.

In addition to the official multiplayer videos and features we release, we’ll be doing more and more multiplayer press from now until launch so you can get your fill of intel before jumping online day 1
