Peeping Tom (Michael Powell)
Mulholland Drive (David Lynch)
La grande illusion (Jean Renoir)
That Obscure Object of Desire (Luis Buñuel)
The Third Man (Carol Reed)

Based on the French schedule (2010 Blu-ray Release Planning), third wave is coming in May.

I thought I read somewhere that the US Studio Canal releases will have the standard blue plastic cases (boring). Can someone confirm? If so, I'll probably get the imports.

Also, can anybody list Studio Canal titles that are unlikely to be released in the US by other distributors, especially by Criterion.

I appreciate the help.

That's what someone said in the US StudioCanal thread.
Main reason I imported, I really enjoy these, they look great. (cases that is, haven't had time to watch the films yet).

Holland Subs

The first wave had original speech language and several common subtitle languages, Dutch one of them.
Anyone knows if the 2nd wave has these too?
Pierrot le Fou and A bout de souffle (breathless) can now be ordered from zavvi.co.uk for GBP 15.49 only.
Anyone?

Given that, thus far the OFLC has not classified Senso for release in Australia, the future looks dim for an English-friendly release...at least for now.
Senso can be ordered from Amazon.fr:

It is included in the second wave.

Ah, this is certainly good news, as I ordered The Ladykillers in the UK too!
Feeling pretty confident, going to order the two others now...
Thanks!

It is included in the second wave.
Yet it isn't likely to include English subtitles or English-friendly video extras if it isn't available in the UK or Australia. I believe this lies with Criterion/Janus in the USA, though, so we could see a Criterion disc.

The first wave had E subs on all releases of F films, most had a loosely gummed back page different per selling country.
So who knows- will check A bout de souffle and Pierrot le Fou I've just ordered and keep you posted if the Wave 1 specs are still the same.

Does anyone know if amazon.uk will be getting Breathless or Senso?
Right now I can only find both titles at amazon.fr.

Looks like The Avengers (the TV show) is Studio Canal as well. And all the Avengers A&E sets are now OOP. A shame since A&E did a good job with "The Prisoner" set.

So was anyone ever able to find out from StuduioCanal why Senso will only have French and German subtitles?

I still haven't heard back...

I'm especially interested in the Buñuel and Lynch titles - let's hope this turns out to be a better release of 'Mulholland Dr.' than the recent Scandinavian effort.
I'm a Buñuel fan (I have seen all of his movies except Cela s'appelle l'aurore), hopefully we can finally get some his films on Blu-ray here in the States. Too bad Miramax owns the rights to "Belle de Jour", their DVD release of that movie was pretty crappy, which from what I understand they simply used Criterion's LD release and imported it to DVD. I can't wait to see That Obscure Object of Desire on Blu-ray.

I own a few Wave Ones where just a few subs were mentioned on the cardboard back, but more were actually on the disc...
Difficult to be sure though...

No ideas why it is not english firendly, but my disc of it did arrive today, and I can officially confirm that it is indeed Region B only, and it has no english audio or subtitle tracks. The details listed on the SC Collection website are accurate. Hope that helps.
