Free Record shop.com should be available in English. Mediadis.com as well. I would not bet on the other shops.

Update: tomorrow

That's just stupid. But hey, it's free record shop. They way they treat the silver discs is not so good. Always check them twice for scratches.

Updated the list.

I hardly buy at Free Record Shop anymore, most of the time they are more expensive than Amazon UK or Media Markt. They used to have a 10% off card, but not anymore...
And subtitles? I only like them on non-English movies, otherwise I like to see the movies without subtitles.

Maybe it's better to go to the Hot Deals forum to discuss the stores. It is going a bit off topic right now (shame to myself ).

Hejjj, even iets voor de Nederlands hier. :P

Is the NL version exactly the same as the U.S. version quality content and packaging?
In addition to text on the packaging and subtitle etc. ...

I would also like to know the same for the quality stuff.
As "Underworld" was apparently not as good as the U.S. version, same for the UK version.
I hope that the same applies to the 'X-Men Trilogy' set.

X-Men is released by Fox in those regions, so the encode should be the same, though I don't know for sure.

Underworld-Unrated was released by Sony in the US, but by Concorde in Germany(not sure about the dutch distributor), so this may explain the transfer quality difference.

I'd say if it is released by Fox, then the transfer should be the same as the US releases.

Timmie,

Didn't you usually bold the titles that are new to the update? That would really help.

Yeah, I lean towards that it's probably the same too, with a company like Fox.
It would be really annoying if it's a worse version once again.

I just can't really understand they didn't use the same thing.
I mean... you're releasing the same thing, only in a different location.
Yet it's not the same, of worse quality, so basically people got ripped off with cheap copies.
It's just really weird and quite unacceptable.

Also, if the NL-version (of 'X-Men') is not as good as the US/UK-version.
We would pretty much be put up with no good HD-version of it around here.
We could buy from the UK for example, but we'd be forced to do so to get the best version.
Well, the same would be true for any other title actually...

Anyway, thanks for letting me know.
I'd like to hear from the Dutch consumers what the Dutch version is like though?

- - - - - - - - - -

Edit:

Well, I just went to a store today, to see what the 'X-Men Trilogy' is like.
As it turns out, they chose to use those boxes with the plastic tray-pages.
You know, kind of like a book with a disc per page.
And then a transparent sleeve around it to keep it closed obviously.
It also has the title and the BD-logo on it.
Which, as a whole, is... kind of different, I think the first time I (personally) see it for a BD-box anyway.
While it has the same box-art as the US-version, but not 3 separate boxes in a sleeve.

Thought that might be interesting for some... I was surprised anyway.

Also, apparently, according to the box, they are Region Free around here.
So I guess anyone in the world could buy it, but you'd have some Dutch and French description-text on it.
But everything else, like the audio and such is fortunately still the original.

Well, I will answer in English. So everyone can understand the answer.

I don't know whether the Dutch packaging is the same as the US. The Dutch edition is a digipack kind of thingy (cardboard with plastic "pages") with a sleeve. It is definately different from the UK version, which appears to be a 6 disc Blu Ray case with sleeve.

The quality differs however. There is only DTS Hi Res audio on the disc instead of the DTS HD MA. The US/UK counterparts have a DTS HD MA. No Dutch subs available on thos editions.

@DigitalfreakNYC: Next time I will do that again. I expect to update this weekend. You can expect The Crow (Disney) and The Elephant Man 1980 (Universal)

Shoite... why do they do that...

Well, thanks for letting me know.
But now I don't know if I should get it... :\

You may check the Fox EU DTS Hi Res instead of DTS HD MA thread. I started a list with DTS Hi Res Fox titles.

It is annoying. Sony seems to be as bad as Fox, giving the Benelux and France a Da Vinci Code with Dolby Digital instead of Dolby True HD (Cover states different). Well you may enjoy listening to the French dubbed Dolby True HD track instead.

OK, did you put like reviews on the HR-audio or something?
I guess it's not TOO bad, it's still DTS and even better than the DVD-version.
But still, it's kind of stupid and unfair that they just change it.
They only go through more trouble to create extra tracks, rather than using one best one.
It's really, really weird and not logical, as if they're doing it on purpose.

And I think I'd still stick with the English even if it's plain DD.
I can't stand overdubs...

It should not be bad at all. It appear to be great soundtracks at 3mbps. However, it still is not DTS HD MA, which is slighty better. Why get a economy ticket, if a business class is offered around the same price?

Uhu.
But I'm not getting the UK-box though, I really don't like that one.
Guess I'll wait a while...

You could check out the German or Scandinavian releases. I do not know which type of packaging they have, but at least it has the DTS HD MA track.

Yeah, but then I'm probably put up with the German (or different) text all-over.
The title says "Trilogie"... I guess that's also Dutch? XD
It looks like it's about the same as the Dutch version:
http://www.amazon.de/X-Men-Trilogie-...2114005&sr=8-1
But then there is this huge ugly green square on the cover.
I don't know if that's a sticker or printed on the box?...

Well, I would have just gone with the US-version if it wasn't locked or Dutch if it wasn't just DTS-HR.
I might seem very picky, but in fact Fox needs to stop being picky with their releases.
What's their problem really? They seem to treat their customers/clients like cr*p.
Besides, other studios don't seem to have a problem being more free and open with their releases.
They might even sell more because of it.

By the way, watch the trailer on that Amazon-page, the German dub is hilariously terrible.
Huge Jackman sounds like a teenager or something. XD

Edit:
LOL I think, strangely enough, me and the Germans think alike?
They put notes up on the Amazon-site,
that you could remove the green logo with alcohol or nailpolish-remover...
Also that "there is no booklet but the paper-thing on the back of the box fits in there".
That's just what I figured I would do. XD
It was quite a pain in the store to shove the box into the sleeve together with the paper.
