Wow I'm interested in hearing people's feedback on this one, cause the first review on the site for the blu-ray is not positive. 2.5 rating for PQ? If this is true I definately won't be wasting my money on it.

Went to the mail box, nothing so far.

Grainy???? I guess I am one of the lucky ones who ordered it from Amazon for $9.99. So I won't mind if the transfer isn't that great.

Yep so a review here gives it a PQ=4 because of not too much grain.
Another review PQ=1.5 too much grain.

Are they looking at the same movie ?

Just got mine in the mail. I was lucky enough to get it for $10 on amazon and added a few things to the order to get free shipping. I can't believe it arrived on the release day.

Picked it up after work today at Wally World. They had 2 copies left on the rack. I picked up the one in the security plastic case because it had the slipcover on it (much preferred).

Their price was $19.96, and they honored the Sony Pictures $5.00 off coupon I printed off weeks ago (they scanned my printout and it worked just fine), so for $14.96 + tax, it's not a bad deal to "get it now."

Should be a significant improvement over my 1999-release DVD.

Will be watching it later tonight!

For some reason it won't play on my PS3. I've got updated firmware I'm sure of it. When the Blu-ray loads it shows a black screen with a little electricity looking load which fails to load all the way. Went to Best Buy to do an exchange and...the second copy does the same thing. Anyone else having any issues?

Bought/Watched it.

On the Video Quality: The grain is just fine through nearly all of the film. Some parts towards the beginning are a little heavier on it, but not too much. Further into the movie you hardly notice it, but it is absolutely suffocating during parts of the scene with Ray and Winston driving around at night. Effects hold up surprisingly well, but you can still see the "box" around the dog creature when he chases Louis into the street.

Overall, not amazing to look at, but still ranging from quite good to a couple of really ugly looking shots. Shouldn't stop anyone from getting it.

As for quality of the movie: It's Ghostbusters.

Having it sitting here but... Just got another Blu of a movie I haven't seen yet so I may not watch GhostBusters tonight anyway.

I did see it in the movie theater when I was much younger though...

I have the first DVD release. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the Blu Ray.

I guess I'll go check out at least some of it.

I had a problem with a Blu a while back. It would not work. I went back to the store and found the same Blu on the shelves but I noticed there were two different bar codes representing the same movie mixed together. I pick out the Blu with a different bar code then what I was returning and it worked perfectly.

This might not be what is happening to you but it did happen to me.

In this review you will see a comparison between DVD 99, DVD 05 and BD 09:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content/id...stbusters.html

Color separation on the Blu Ray is way better than on the dvd from 2005.
Colors are also better in my opinion.

Contrast still looks boosted. But better than on the 05 DVD.
Check out the screenshot comparison in the review.

And Sony said that the DoP was involved in the Blu Ray Transfer before he died.
Yea, I just looked at that site, and you can tell there is better detail on the blu before you even enlarge the pictures on some of those. Basically, the blu is better in the PQ dept., not leaps and bounds better, but better nonetheless

Something to note, is if your seeing a lot of grain you may want to check the sharpness control on your TV and make sure it's not set too high.

A lot of people will look through the menu's of there displays and see the sharpness control and think "I like a sharp picture so lets crank it up" but what this is going to do is over enhancing the picture and add information that shouldn't be there. You only need the sharpness control for analog signals like VHS because VHS doesn't have the high frequency information like digital, the sharpness control is there to add it. For digital sources like DVD and Blu-ray the sharpness control is not needed and should be set low or to off. Increasing it can over emphasize details like grain making it more prominent then it really is.
