I agree. I had no expecations of this being a quality release. However, now it's on my holiday list.

Although their review skips over last year's re-release, which had a print restoration similar to the one for the Blu, and takes the first unrestored SD for comparison--
Still, the Blu caps do look pretty darn good, though.

Default to answer the question of B&W or color

Hi All,

If it is allowed, this link clearly has images lifted from the BD copy.
They are in B&W

What I don't get is why the major stores I've looked up online say this title is ONLY available online!

Best Buy, Borders, Target...
And neither Barnes & Noble nor Walmart even list it!

My copy just arrived today from Amazon - ordinarily I wouldn't watch it until Christmas Eve - will watch parts of it tonight just to check out the video/audio quality.

Damn that looks really good, there looks to be a lot more fine detail and the blacks actually look black not grey, why was it mastered in MPEG 2 though?

I got the VCI version and it looks amazing. And with probably just the right amount of grain. I don't think anyone is going to have a problem with this release. There is also an interesting trivia popup track. Very much recommended.

I also bought this edition last week. It is OK though not up to Blu-ray standards, at all. It is, however a great classic, and I enjoyed the movie.

I forgot to mention the VCI edition also contains the DVD which has the movie in both 4:3 format and a 16:9 cropped version.

I know its a small thing... but I wish it had a better artwork lol. It kinda looks like cheap DVD art.

More details, please! I really want this disc -- and I'd love to hear all about how it looks.

This is the one you should by. It's Region A, anyway, don't know about other regions.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the US so Region A is where I am anyway. Think I'll be ordering it.
