This actually sounds pretty plausible. The fact that the screeners weren't sent out (unless that just happened) is a tip-off. Now we need someone on the inside to confirm that the disc production has stopped.

Well I bought it today and just popped it in to see what all the fuss was about. It looks good to me......the picture is clean and bright and the detail on the people is good also.Maybe Im just not too picky or I dont know what Im looking for but Im glad I bought it.I mean I spent 20 bucks on Ghostbusters and I thought that looked horrible but people on here praised it.....then I buy Gladiator and think it looks great but people on here trash it..... Oh well, with this and Braveheart now added to my collection I can knock a few more of my most wanted Blu's off the list.

A better letter (not that I'd waste my time) would be to say you read reviews regarding the EE and DNR of Gladiator, and then purchased it on release anyways as a fan of the film, and confirmed these reviews.

If you're gonna write a letter to complain, you may as well be up-front.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with all the HD jargon. I just wrote it how I saw it. Anyway, I'm just one person. There will be plenty of other folks voicing those specific concerns, I'm sure.

Yeah that letter will get you nowhere, doesn't sound like you're very informed.

Anyway I found a deal to good to resist and bough them both. Braveheart is as confirmed, amazing. Gladiator however did not disappoint either, maybe it was all the negative hype but I certainly expected it to look worse than it does. In fact, at the price I got them both for I am not at all unhappy with my purchase. If they come out with something better I'll get it for sure but i expected this to be Gangs of New York bad, or Master and Commander bad. No it's not the best, but the sound is phenomenal and the PQ is a solid 4 out of 5 IMO.

This is a good example...... so many people don't understand what good PQ is, so they turn the DNR lever to "11" for Gladiator, because people see Grain, and they think it's a bad transfer.......

Grain haters deserve DNR.

If it looks OK to you, don't worry about what to look for and just watch it. If it didn't look good I'm sure you would be able to give us some details on why you feel that why.

There isn't enough consistentcy with the opinions. If this was complete trash, EVERYONE would feel that way! If that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it today. Time to judge for ourselves!

Agreed, I am certainly not a nit-picker but feel I have a good handle on what good PQ is, Gladiator is certainly not as good as Braveheart (which isn't perfect either, some of the night shots are a bit soft, outlawed tunes scene whenever it shows Argyle and William from the rear) but it is a good release. Sapphire series is just a fancy name, this movie belongs there on merit alone.

Much of the grain was preserved in Ghostbusters. It wasn't scrubbed to death as it was with this, which is considered a much larger title.

Yes they do, and they deserve this transfer. I really hope the "boo grain" discussions decrease after this release, because any time someone wants an example of when eliminating grain hurt a movie, this release is a perfect example.

I'm not sure it's completely kosher to put this up, but credit to Cakefoos or cakefoo or something or-other, for the screen grabs.....

He posted this, so I will relay it here.....

Can't tell a difference.

On second look, the left side of his face looks more detailed in B.

well the grain in Ghostbusters was actually a distraction for me....I guess everybody has their own opinions. Some people that use to put up Dvdbeaver reviews before to back their claim of movies with good pq are now disregarding that site all together....I guess it depends on whether the person agrees with the review or not as to whether or not the site is reputable. At least watch it first and dont go off of screengrabs to determine if its a good transfer or not.All the people who canceled their orders really have no valid points unless they watch it because they are just going off of hearsay.
