That's funny and it's almost like Russell's yelling at him specifically in the audience!

The device he is standing near is not a camera but an amnesia inducing device similar to those used in the motion picture Men In Black. This is a hidden element in Gladiator that only the most astute are able to notice.

There's a ton of mistakes/gaffes in Gladiator:

While it's not the best looking BD I own, I don't think it is as bad as people say. I must say the detail could have been better.. as this was a recent vintage movie.

Oh, the sound is great and the music is very clear, it is DTS-HD Master Audio not TrueHD like some site says. It is a few dB quieter than most other DTS HD MA. To me the sound is half the experience.

It is worth $17.99 to me.
I have watched bits too and I totally agree, it looks very good and sounds great. I see so much that I didnt before. Could it be better? Everything could be better! What if you die waiting for perfect?

I do not think that scene is an "extended Scene"

Well said. I wonder if half the people wanting to storm Paramount with pitchforks and torches have even watched the BD yet.

Thumbs up My Mini-review

I bought it at my local BX yesterday (last copy too btw ) and after everything I've read this past week I expected to see a very sub-par transfer. Well I did not see that AT ALL. This is Gladiator like I've never seen it before. Colors that I'd never knew existed in this movie were suddenly burst upon my 42" Panasonic screen. The landscapes were the definite standout of this transfer, indeed.

There is noticeable DNR in certain scenes, make no mistake, but the pros far outweigh the cons here.

Also, the DTS-HD soundtrack is one of the finest in my collection. The room was litterally shaking during the opening battle scene, while the mid-levels were getting quite the workout as well.

$17.95 after a $10 rebate if you own the dvd is a nice bonus as well. I didn't see a coupon for buying Braveheart and Gladiator together though.

That is hilarious. How the hell with a $100 million budget do you screw up the obvious details of a period piece (costumes!)?

The $10 rebate for buying both together is only at Best Buy and FutureShop, 99.9% sure.
