I have watched the standard version twice in the past week on my PS3 to get familiar with that quality. I am in the Germania battle scene right now, and I promise you if I had not known about the screen shots, I NOTICED the waxiness and clearly saw the fire balls disappear! then you can actually see the cut up arrows move a few seconds later IN REAL TIME . When I went back to check the fireball, it was gone for 5 FULL FRAMES! So noticeable to the naked eye in real time. If I was not an avid forum reader I would have thought they totally messed up the CGI.

This is a travesty in my opinion. I will also be e mailing Paramount for a refund. I knew I was taking my chances, but did not expect it to be this bad.

On a positive note this is a great Blu-ray for the blind.

I hope I am taking one for the team

hey man at least your honest.most people that buy it will try to justify the pq by saying its ''not bad as i thought etc''.because they know they got ripped.whats this saying about how a studio cares about blu-ray.

for what its worth i hope you rip paramount a new ass.

The image posted in this thread was blatantly bad. The light was shining directly on the guy in jeans. How did they miss it when doing the editing for the film?!

I agree. For me the price is worth it, I've been waiting for this movie in blu. So what if the PQ is not perfect, at least I could enjoy DTS-MA. Now if Paramount releases a better version then I'll get that too. I've double/triple-dipped many times since my DVD days doing it once more for this movie won't hurt a bit.

Yeah I get that whole thing about missing stuff since you're too close to the making of it but thousands of people were involved in the production of this movie, you'd think one of them would've noticed it and said something to have that guy digitally scrubbed out while they were scrubbing everything else!

While it's not the best looking BD I own, I don't think it is as bad as people say. I must say the detail could have been better.. as this was a recent vintage movie.

Oh, the sound is great and the music is very clear, it is DTS-HD Master Audio not TrueHD like some site says. It is a few dB quieter than most other DTS HD MA. To me the sound is half the experience.

It is worth $17.99 to me.

then again your right and that is the point.we''re bd nut heads and we do expect a lot.it is suppose to be hd isn't it?imop if you keep buying sub-par bd's like this ones,were just gonna keep seeing this crap cause the studio's will keep putting it out.

Thats what I tried to explain earlier.. People think that people are jerks for complaining when we are really disciplining the movie studios. I for one am not going to defend a sucky bluray just to be mr nice guy.. sorry.

How is the Extended Edition? It is supposed to be better than the theatrical cut.

I will get it regardless, love the movie and the soundtrack should be off the hook.

From the link I posted....

Only the newer scenes in the extended cut will have the better PQ.

The extended version contains exactly the same video for the scenes common in both theatrical and extended cuts (which is almost the entire movie other than about 15 minutes). It branches out to the newer video for the scenes exclusive to the extended cut.

I do not hope, that this is a trend for Ridley Scott. Hannibal obviously got the same treatment, with an old master. Blade Runner looked great, so what about Alien?

Armor and weapons tend to look fake in HD anyway, it's worse when it really stands out though. They over-do the clang of swords hitting to hide the fact that they're wooden or rubber or plastic. Plus you can tell by the way people fling them around, you can't handle real swords like that, not to mention you WOULDN'T.
