Your contrast looks pretty high, or your camera is out of wack. Looks very good though.

Meh, I watched a couple of movies tonight and saw Heath and thought I would take a picture for the fans. Probably the worst scene of the movie for him...

I have been trying to enjoy my new equipment, so a lot less shots have been coming from me. Sorry, I will try to pick it back up soon.

PQ Rating: 3.75/5 - Odd textures, halos and EE can be found quite frequently. The film is also very dark, though it still looks good. Fine detail can be spotted on most of the surroundings, but the actors look a might bit waxy on occasion. Still, despite its flaws, this is a much better presentation than the DVD. Note: The final shot takes place at the end of the movie and the colors are intentionally blown out.

these screecaps from Dark City reminds me of the game Bioshock specially the 5th pic from the bottom.

yeah, it's the camera, it blows the contrast high if there is a bright scene and also makes the pic a bit barker then it really is, it'a an old kodak 3.1mp camera, but am about to upgrade the camera so hopefully it takes better pics. That's actually why I've hesitated on doing screenshots is because of this crappy camera.

They look really good considering the camera! That is why is it nice to post equipment used in the post as well. I need to do it more often, Ric usually has me covered in the first post though.

Getting the camera settings right is very tricky. I'm still making adjustments here and there. Cameras tend to add noise; over or under expose; usually over saturate; tend push certain colors; tend to warm or cool the image. The trick is to try to counter the errors either by adjusting the camera or by adjusting the display device to offset. I've done both.

One of the ways I calibrated my display and camera was to obtain a direct computer image capture of a frame of a movie and then photograph that exact frame on my display. Then I would compare on my computer monitor. At first, the photographs were WAY off. I kept adjusting aperture, shutter speed, color controls on my camera as well as adjust contrast, brightness, colors on my display until my photo looked as close to the direct computer image capture as possible. It's still not perfect and I'm not totally pleased, but there's only so much you can do with the camera you have.

The main problems I see with screenshot photographs are as follows:

1) Under-exposure
2) Red push (although my weird camera pushes greens)
3) Over-saturation of colors
4) Lack of detail

If you can address those things to be close to accurate, then you will have very good screenshots.

Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing more screenshots.
