I have the 2 disc special edition DVD from a few years ago. Is there PQ good enough to justify buying on Blu-Ray, even with the repeating scene? I've also read elsewhere that the AQ on the Blu-Ray is not as good as on the DVD.

Well whoever wrote the AQ on the blu-ray is not as good as the DVD should be slapped. While the Dolby TrueHD track isn't reference material, it is still very good, IMO. The video again is not in the top tier of movies but a huge upgrade from the DVD version.

I agree with you. This is a strong B+ effort from Sony and it delivers total bug squishing fun. Next weekend I am might watch Men in Black followed by Starship Troopers for the full gross out bug effect. I might need a can of bug spray too.

THere were little things... details I never saw before and I've watched the SD special edition upconverted to 1080i several times. Impressive. There is grain present here and there and some interior low IRE scenes a tad down-putting but it's the source and still worth getting.

Starship Troopers U.K Blu-ray

1) Import BD is a tad sharper than the U.S BD. Please check close-up shots.
2) Colors on the U.S BD look a tad vibrant than the import BD.
3) U.S BD has more dirt and white specks than the import BD.
4) Peak bit rates better on the import BD which crosses 38 Mbps on many scenes.

Has anyone heard anything about Sony admitting this problem?

I noticed it too. I just thought it was funny, especially the look he had while he was shooting.

This is bad news. I just heard about this. I haven't watched my US disc yet.

Is this error bad enough to notice to a casual viewer, or just people that know the film well?

So which version has the best picture? UK or US. What do people think?

I bought the UK edition today in Zavvi. I didn't think a few seconds would bother me, but I watched the US BD last night and had forgotten how much I loved the film. So I decided to get the best version.

I emailed Sony from an address on their website. They said they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix.

A fix as in some sort of replacement perhaps.

No update on this from the studio? Is it going to be quietly forgotten about I wonder. After all the same mistake was on the Superbit edition and nobody seemed to notice.

I think I prefer the transfer on the UK disc anyway, but still it's annoying to have to own two versions of a film on Blu-ray. Can you buy double cases from anywhere?

Same here. And it is the same as the individual release.

Has anyone heard any more about this problem being fixed. There has been more than enough time to address this issue and satisfy customers who want Starship Troopers corrected.

UK version is superior and I prefer the cover art as well.

I've seen Starship Troopers hundreds of times as it's one of my favorite movies so I noticed this right away. I am wondering if other people can check to see if they have this same problem, if not then i ll have to email Amazon.com to get an exchange hopefully.
Has anyone heard if this problem is going to be addressed by the studio/distributor/whomever? I've held off on buying a copy in anticipation that they might release a corrected copy.

Nothing yet, I am going to get the UK version again in the near future. I sold it before getting the trilogy assuming it would have been just as good, but I was wrong lol

Yeah the UK version is better.

If you want the trilogy set I believe the UK trilogy set still includes the current UK disc. It's nice small didgipack.
