Yet, if they didn't released this boxset on Blu-ray, (DVD Only for example) you'll have a thread on people complaining about it...

Happy Forums just don't exist (Sarcasm here...)

If ever a film deserved a classy boxset, it would be Casablanca. Looking forward to this greatly.

HD DVD fans were able to pay $20 for Casablanca. But BD fans must pay $40+ to own it? That is bullshit.

i agree that this is a way of getting more money out of blu owners now that there is no format war, just like only making available the ultimate matrix box set (heck they probably put up 2 hd-dvd versions cuz they knew they were gonna lose). they know there is a higher probability of us buying it (even if it retails for more than twice as much) than of us just not getting it.

Never seen the movie but will watch this classic upon release. I do wish they also offered a standalone edition. I know that box is DVD size, I prefer BD sized boxes like Ocean's.

I'm suprised they never did that for 2001.

I hate releases that don't come in snappable cases I don't have any on Blu Ray but I hate the packaging for my Se7en collecters edition on DVD. Maybe it just me but I am anal about dust on any optical media, so I like cases that have an audioable snap.

You know, I don't mind the paper-based additions like the postcards, letters, or a nice booklet, but I fail to see who wants a "Casablanca" passport holder or luggage tag. Collectors will never use them, and they have no real use.

I have the HD DVD disc only version. I wish they had simply offered the blu in a similar fashion.

Looks like I need to order more cases from sleeve city. I am running out of these things all too quickly with these stupid boxsets. I may look through them once, but they end up just sitting in storage while my disc is moved to a nice clean case.

(In case Warner is reading this.)

Blu-ray is supposed to be compact, like the "Compact Disc" whose form factor it matches exactly. Bloated packaging, however pretty, negates this advantage. It's not just a cost issue ($64.99 msrp!?!). For some a chunky box will be a turn-off almost irrespective of price.

Title is a must-buy for me, so I'll wait for Casablanca to arrive in a space-efficient cover.

Im not waiting at all. I think the collectors set is great because its a classic. So as someone who appreciates film history this can't get any better. Will have day one.

Hopefully Warner will do a similar collector's box for The Wizard of Oz.

I agree with Wizard of Oz. If they don't do a box at least digibook.

Love Casablanca but don't want this bloated funky-box nonsense. Will wait.
