Oh okay, you are in the minority. Many of us just want the first 2 films.

I'll take all 4. 3 and 4 are hilarious so I have no problem watching those. 1 and 2 are amazing.

Yeah, it appears so. I guess I'll go with the imports.

Quick question.

Why are you so sure WB will be putting these things on single layers when they haven't even been announced yet?

I mean, yeah, the digibook has, but that's not what we're talking about here lately. I know I'm not touching that digibook release, I'm waiting for the bundle of 'em all. I'd guess that plenty others have already decided to avoid the digibook release.

My thinking is if Warner is going to use a BD 25 for the digibook release, they will most likely also use the the same BD 25 pressing for the 4 movie set as well. Trust me, I wanted to purchase the US set just like you, but with Warner up to their usual bullshit I prefer to let them know with my wallet that inferior releases will not be rewarded.

There's little doubt that's what they're going to do.

If you like all the films, you should import them all individually, or the complete set that will be released in the UK on March 16th.

While it's still "rumor", beginning late last year some usually good sources have checked in here and elsewhere stating that the US version would be a BD25 Digibook release.

...

No... we KNOW that there will be a digibook release of 1989's Batman. But JUST the 1989 film. No Batman Returns, Forever, or ...& Robin have been announced, particularly not as digibooks.

buy the UK import now or be stuck with the BD-25 USA release, just ordered mine last night

http://www.dvdreview.com/news/viewnews.asp?id=10644

the release will comes as a 2-disc Digibook version, containing a BD-25 disc for the movie and a separate DVD for the bonus materials.

Warner celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Tim Burton’s Batman

We just got word that Warner Home Video is preparing a 20th Anniversary Edition of Tim Burton’s Batman on Blu-Ray Disc for release in March.
Jack Nicholson is the Joker, who emerged from a horrible accident as a maniacal criminal. Michael Keaton is the Caped Crusader, who emerged from a childhood trauma to become a masked crimefighter. Kim Basinger is Vicki Vale, the talented photojournalist desired by both men. And Batman is the movie, the all-out spectacular directed by Tim Burton, set to songs by Prince and a music score by Danny Elfman, and an Academy AwardO winner* for Best Art Direction/Set Decoration (Anton Furst and Peter Young).
No exact details or specs have been announced yet, but the release will comes as a 2-disc Digibook version, containing a BD-25 disc for the movie and a separate DVD for the bonus materials.
The release date for “Batman” is tentatively scheduled for March 31, but we’ll keep you informed on any new developments of announcements we’ll hear of

I'm actually appalled at Warner's tactics on this one.

I'm not. Cheaper to produce a ton of the 2nd disc and pack them with both the Blu-Ray and DVD.

Considering the 2nd Disc was already prepared and produced for the previous release on DVD.

Especially when the extras were just going to be in Standard Definition anyway.

That's all fine and dandy, if the movie itself hasn't been re-compressed to fit on a BD-25. I'm just trying to show some empathy with my American cousins, when in actual fact I have the UK discs and won't be re-buying.

I think someone said the bitrate would have to be dropped to make it fit on a single layer.

It's also freaking annoying to only have this available in a digibook.

I think I'll wait until an announcement of the US release of all of the films. If it looks like it'll suck, I'll probably just import at that point, print some custom inserts, and live with crappy ratings logos all over the discs. But then again, if they can reencode to a lower bitrate but not introduce any artifacts, I think I'd be ok with it.

In all honesty though, I've got a lot on my plate right now and I'm not exactly in a hurry to rush these films. I've got like 10 unopened I need to check out, plus about 100 more that I plan to buy still yet, not including the Batman films.

Exactly. The movie on the UK BD is 26.3GB. Some sacrifices were made to make it fit on a BD-25.

That sounds like some early and speculative news. I wouldn't get too worked up until there is an official announcement from Warners, with all of the specs and info.

Were? The discs haven't even been announced yet for the US. Maybe we should all wait until there's some confirmation one way or another.

I wont believe anything about these discs until WB puts out a press release regarding them. I have a feeling we will hear something this week at CES regarding a US release. Hopefully WB gives these the proper treatment.
