Why the hell don't studios do a theatrical cut and a extended or directors cut the same day. Really makes me mad how some movie studios are gouging us with Theatrical cuts only when they know the director has another version in the bag already.

Im looking your way Warner, man up and give us the Exteded Cuts of Lord of the Rings, not that I would buy it anyway.

That is also why I am waiting till the 19th of May for Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Actually, the "director's cut" is supposed to come out same day as the theatrical release. What you're referring to is the "ultimate cut" or something, the version of the film where they add in the animated Tales of the Black Freighter material. The director's cut is supposed to add about 30 minutes, and the cut with the Black Freighter stuff should add about 30 more minutes.

Last I heard, the ultimate edition was gonna be out around the holiday season. It'll probably be one of those terrible enormous boxes.

I loved this film. As suspected it was much too complex and ambiguous for the mainstream. The fact that Ghost Rider grossed more at the box office is a joke on the state of mind of the collective mainstream movie going audience.

AWESOME. Watchmen, Green Lantern: First Flight, and Waterboy all on 7/28 so far. Watchmen should make for a spectacular blu-ray!

Watchmen's higher rating can account for that more than the low intelligence of the masses. R ratings can kill the income possibilities on movies, and cutting out the younger folks from seeing this really hurt them. I mean, bearing in mind the subject matter, younger folks should have been restricted from viewing, but that is what hurt the profitability of the film moreso than that the story was too "smart".

This is a day one purchase for me if there ever was one. I have loved Watchmen since I first got my hands on the GN at age 14. Can't wait, I wish it was being released by someone other than Warner though.

If they release it, we will buy.

Yeah. I've doubled dipped too much in my life. As with LOTR, I'll wait until the most complete edition is available. Sigh.

Yeah, I want to have the most complete version too, but I've seen the Tales of the Black Freighter and I don't foresee it adding much of anything to the film. If anything, I fear it'll bog it down with a sideplot that fails to directly associate with what is going on and is too allegoric for casual entertainment.

Maybe if they chop it up just right they can casually meld the plot points into the film where applicable, but I don't think the hard transition back and forth will serve the overall film well.

Hopefully Warner confirms this soon. I loved the movie and can't wait to get it on blu. Only problem is, I'm not sure if I want to hold off for the ultimate version when that comes out. Sadly, I'll probably end up double dipping as I loved this movie. Oh well, whatever I cn do to help the economy, right?

I saw some info on this and was looking at ordering the US edition.

I then knowticed Warner Bros handles the US and Paramount EU so knowing that Paramount will do a much better video encode then Warner I am getting the UK edition.

I do hope Paramount will release the directors cut in the UK.

That's what I read is going to happen too. I'm just getting the director's cut in July and calling it a day.

Looking forward to this. Missed it in theaters and looks like a blind buy for me. It looks really good and Roger Ebert gave it a great review.

Gee, I wonder if that could be because IT"S A CHRISTMAS MOVIE, and Christmas only come once a year. Why would you want to watch Elf any other time?
