How do you feel about the positioning of subtitles on wider-ratio (2.30+) movies for SPE Blu-ray Discs?
Your preference for subtitle positioning in regards to widescreen (Aspect Ratio of 2.30 or greater) pictures is: 1. Place all subtitles inside the active picture all the time. 2. As it is not possible for SPE to place both lines outside of the active picture, I prefer what SPE currently does which is, one line in the active picture and one line below. 3. It makes no difference to me, as either way is fine. Quote:

On the image at all times, but I like what Peter said where the user should be able to choose. But if I can't choose, I'd rather have them seem like they're part of the image.

Moving subtitles would be color as well as color options.
Would it be hard to have 2 sets, one in the picture, one in the black bar. Or three I guess if needed, where the third is half in the bar, half in the picture. (Yeah I read Penton's note) Or better, any non-English film dubbed over by David Attenborough |

I think that would necessitate doubling the number of streams on the disc since we would have to offer for every language and this adds significant cost.

I vote for in the picture, because even though I don't have a constant height projector now, I could one of these days down the road and I would love for my library of foreign films on BD to be watchable with it.

Seriously, though, would it be that hard to add two English subtitle tracks to North American releases? |
