You'd have to import to get the 2-disc in a standard case. Or wait a couple of months, since The Wizard of Oz will be released in a standard edition as well.

The thing is though that Oz was already available in a multi-disc standard edition (the Target exclusive). All they're going to do is provide that to every retailer now. As far as we know there's multi-disc standard edition of GWTW, which isn't a good sign. I hope you're right though

Target and Wal-mart will have boxes of Twinkies at the checkout. Other than that, it looks bleak for a US 'neat' set

My Walmart.com preorder of UCE shipped last night. Guess they wanted to make sure I didn't cancel if Walmart B&M got a 2-disc version. (Not necessary, WM; if there ever was a box o'swag I actually wanted, it's this one. Besides, if there was a 2-disc at B&M, we'd probably know about it by now.)

Looking at the Target ad online it looks like Gone with the wind is a 2 Disc Blu Ray Set

Well, if Target gets a 2-disc version (way overpriced, I might add), hopefully this means Walmart will still get a single-disc version. That's all I want. Unless I'm able to score the Target version for $12.99 on Black Friday.

Just reread the digitalbits news update and they say the box set is 4 disc so the Target version has the Movie and the extras; minus the goodies, Cd sampler and the Lion Roars DVD which are in the box.

Will it be possible to buy GWTW and then return it on Black Friday and then repurchase it at the $12.99 price point?

The UK GWTW shipped on fri (£13.03. & shipping £16.11.= total US $26.91). If it's the same Warners 2-disc at Target ($36.99+t), I'm happy. (The UK one seems to have the original poster cover) Otherwise I'd get the Target one (ad says 2-disc and has a photoshopped cover.)
Why does Warners have to play sneaky-poo instead of showing their cards ahead of time. It's a game to let us have choice while we think we don't have a choice.
I would have bought domestic if I could known.

Way overpriced for the Target version. I'll probably go with the Wally World one.

How is that "confirmed"? You don't think the ad could be a mistake, considering the standard DVD is two discs and they have mistakenly labeled the BD version as two discs as well? We already have confirmation and pictures a few pages back in this very thread here from a Target employee that it is only a 1-disc version:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.ph...2&postcount=90

Look at the picture of the back of the case...it only lists the audio commentary, which is the only special feature on the first disc with the film....if this set included the second BD which is loaded with bonus features, why wouldn't they list any of them on the back? Wouldn't that be a great selling point to mention?

Not to mention that the actual ad doesn't even say 2 disc. It's only the bubble that pops up when you bring your mouse over the disc in the ad. Considering the evidence to the contrary, I'd definitely say the 2 disc label is an error.

The OZ Target version ad was marked wrong, the CDWOW ad looked wrong, amazon.uk marks region free BDs as PAL. The Target OZ had When The Lion Roars which was 'exclusive' to the UCE of OZ and WIND.
Anyway these ads are not made with the interest that 'fans' might expect. The Target price is similar as before and I'll bet has 1 disc for the film, one for the extras and maybe the exclusive Lion Roars.... and just maybe the music CD

We hope for the best

With a price of 34.99, maybe it is a two disc. Seems a bit expensive for a single disc at that price.

The UCE can only be "4-disc" if you're counting the CD sampler, which WB is not. WB's official site counts it as 3 discs--disc 1, movie + commentary; disc 2, special features; disc 3, MGM:WTLR (double-sided DVD, same as WoO). The CD sampler is pictured, but only as a bonus.

That, of course, is on top of the photographic evidence that strongly suggests the Target version is only one disc. (It doesn't prove it 100% since they didn't open the package & part of the front label is unreadable; but the back label is almost conclusive, especially in light of Walmart's WoO.) But whether it's one disc or two, $34.99 is clearly too much to pay when (a) you can get the UCE for just a little bit more and (b) we already know it'll be $12.99 on Black Friday.
