Default Poll: Should Sony use DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD?

Do you think SPE should start using DTSHDMA and drop Dolby True HD?

Per Penton's post here:

I am interested in an online poll on Blu-ray.com that inquires as to whether or not the members feel that SPE should start using DTSHDMA and drop Dolby True HD.

I don't see a poll, but I say NO!

DTS will occasionally master some of their tracks a little hot, and almost all of them are 4dB louder than the original master. I feel like the bass gets a little boomy with some of the hot recordings as well.

These are really tiny complaints, almost insignificant really(lossless in either format is wonderful) but if I have the option to vote, I say stay with TrueHD.

United Kingdom true hd sucks DTS supreme

i would say yes, i really hate truehd most of the time it just sounds the same as dolby digital, i recently bought underworld: rise of the lycans and that sounds terrible, the dialogue is way too quiet. dts hd has more volume and superior clarity and usually a higher bit rate.

I personally don't care either way. As long as there is a lossless option, that's good enough for me.

...aaaaaaaaaaaaand you don't think that could possibly be the mix, do you?

I voted it doesn't matter- just bring us quality lossless audio.

It shouldn't matter either way. I would like as high a bitrate as possible though.

No reason they should. But DTS might have offered a deal. I think it's nice they're soliciting opinions to see how many folks owning non-DTS legacy players might get left out in the cold.

It would be nice, but as long as it is lossless, I really wouldn't mind. I'm down for great AQ, it doesn't bother me of it's DTSMA or TrueHD, or even a hamster running on a wheel. Just ensure it's LOSSLESS.

And I did cast a vote.

It wouldn't affect me now, but for those with older receivers they will benefit from the higher bitrate DTS core. So I voted Yes.

DTS for me. I find it delivers a much more powerful and dynamic experience. I find True HD to be a little quiet sometimes too in some movies. ( Body of Lies is my best example, the sub never really worked up even during giant explosions unlike QoS which just rocked my house )

The best audio my system can currently do is the 1.5mbps core track of DTSHDMA, therefore I voted yes.

Doesn't matter to me, as long as it's lossless. Even though I'm currently bitstreaming the audio, I will get a new receiver soon.
