Default Master List of Blu-ray Players.

You can find the complete list HERE.

This list is a work in progress. With so many players and conflicting press releases stating different specs it's hard to know exactly what player will have what upon release regarding FW/Profile/Audio capability.

If anyone want's me to add or amend the list by all means PM me and I'll update it ASAP. Cheers.

This is a fantastic idea, and it's definitely worth becoming a sticky!

A couple of suggestions:

- it may be necessary at some point to make two separate lists for US and European players,
- it would also be interesting to list in a separate message, the URLs pointing to the latest firmware updates of the players.
- could you also provide separate columns for the prices in USD, pounds and euros?

Cheers,

For me, it's coming down between the Samsung P2400 and the Sharp BD-HP20!!!!!!! I didn't know the Sharp is going to be profile 2.0, I wonder if that's out the box or via firmware? Nonetheless I am so ready for a new player!!!!! Excellent list BadAss!!!!!!!

Panasonic DMP-BD10 (first generation version not too dissimilar to the BD10A)

I would suggest an indicator for the profile that flags whether it is the current profile supported, versus that is fixed at that maximum.

e.g. The PS/3 has no technical reason for not being 1.1 and 2.0 capable.

Marantz is an affiliate of Denon, owned by D&M (Denon and Marantz) and I haven't noticed the announcement either, but it should definitely be coming. The lineup of players and manufacturers is impressive. I sure hope it helps Blu-ray when the new players start showing up.

Here's another Pioneer deck:

BDP-HD50-K

This may only be available in Canada.

Great list!

However, I would suggest that an URL to a press release or the official specification is added to the list, in order to avoid speculations.

I can see that both Samsung BD-UP5000 and Sharp BD-HP20 are listed as profile 2.0 player. But Samsung BD-UP5000 is clearly stated as a profile 1.0 player in the German press release. Do you have any updated information? And I haven't seen any information about the Sharp player. Could you please let us know were you have seen this information.

Note that I believe that many of the recently announced players are hardware prepared for profile 1.1/2.0, but I think we should list them as 1.0 until it's officially announced that they will support 1.1/2.0.

Please check if the Denon Blu-ray devices will support DTS-HD Master Audio??

Also check if it will have profile 1.1 or profile 2.0

Thanks

Blah.

If we are talking about Pioneer, then ALL of these are just the same model & form factor. They may change the model numbers in different teritorries BUT EVERYTHING IS THE SAME. 1080p24 support, DLNA, CD-playback, PAL/NTSC/SECAM MULTI SUPPORT, ETC.

Basically everything is the same and knowing Pioneer Blu-ray products. All of them come from the same factory line in Pioneer Electronics factory in Kanagawa, Japan.

IMHO, only a fool would believe in the model number discrepancy.

/rant over

P.S. With that said, I would like to request from the OP of this thread to add Blu-ray products that include those outside the American market.

For example, here in Asia and Europe, we have a BDP-S1E, which is an enhanced version of the already available BDP-S1 sold in North and South America. The BDP-S1E has HDMI 1.3, 24fps, CD-playback, multi channel analog and digital outs and 7.1 LPCM playback support.

Are you sure Jodi? Do you have a link that it will internally decode DTS HDMA?

But they can only bitstream it right? And isnt that via a future firmware update?

I don't think the sammys are going to be able to decode DTS HDMA internally.
