Looks like blu-ray is continuing to hold up fairly well against DVD with some of the newer releases.

[Blu Titan]

Australia was the #1 Blu-ray seller for the week. From Home Media Magazine:

Interest in all things Watchmen sent Warner’s cartoon compilation Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic to a respectable No. 9 bow on the First Alert sales chart; 29% of the title’s sales were on the Blu-ray Disc format.


On Nielsen Videoscan’s Blu-ray Disc sales chart for the week, Watchmen debuted at No. 4, just behind Warner’s The Dark Knight, still a solid seller in the high-definition format even though it’s been in stores for more than three months.


Australia was the top Blu-ray Disc seller for the week, while Beverly Hills Chihuahua was No. 2.

What's the marketshare record for blu-ray? The 29% for Watchmen looks good although the numbers sold are probably pretty small.

Yearly marketshare increase measured as a delta in the year over year marketshare percentage? That's not a valid metric. The YoY marketshare increase is the percentage change of last year's percentage, not the delta.

Your measurements makes things look bad now, when the increase is highest, and better in years to come when the increase is much less.

e.g.

4% --> 8% is a 100% increase in marketshare (not 4%)
40% --> 46% is a 15% increase (not 6%)

Excellent share for BD...Sleeping Beauty got 10% share the first week. Milk, in a surprise, got 10%.

Very good week:

Revenue was $16.75 million, or 9.8% of total packaged media revenue

Pinocchio outsellling Transporter 3 by almost 2:1 Guess including the DVD for the kids room/minivan is not such a bad idea.

I think that's pretty impressive considering the Best Buy in my area had the DVD of Let the Right One In but not the blu-ray (although I don't know how widespread that sort of thing was).
