Default Anyone know the average video bit-rate of a Blu-ray movie?

I realize this varies, but does anyone know what the average video bit-rate of a Blu-Ray movie is? I'm speaking in terms of newer movies such as Cloverfield, Rambo, and animated movies such as Ratatouille.

Thanks!

Depends...A lot of the Warner titles use VC-1 and the bit rates are usually in the mid teens. I have seen movies like Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer in which the bitrates hit the upper thirties.

Some video encodings on Blu-ray are identical to counterparts on HD-DVD, meaning they're running well below 30 million bits per second -or often below 20 million bits per second.

Some titles, like a good number of offerings from Fox, go well beyond the 30Mbs level. I turned on the "meter" while watching Juno and was surprised to see the video bit rate going beyond 40Mbs. I saw peaks as high as 42Mbs even though 40 is supposed to be the limit. Add to that a DTS-HD MA audio stream and other tracks to boot. All of that is possible due to Blu-ray having a 54Mbs overall bandwidth limit. If I remember right, HD-DVD was limited to only 30Mbs. Good thing Blu-ray won the format war.
