I certainly look forward to this. But I'm not hopeful, and will continue to buy the occasional SACD/DVD-A.

Will there be a firmware update to provide my Playstation 3 to be profile 3.0 functionality.

No update is required AFAIK, I believe that the profile exists basically to give developers a standard for BD titles with no video content or only optional video content.

Just ordered my first BD music discs - concert discs actually. Quincy Jones 75th, Elton@60, Stevie Wonder Live at Last and Celine Dion Live in Vegas. Keeping fingers crossed in anticipation.

I hope BD audio goes beyond concert discs. I also hope, in terms of genre, it does not get stuck at mostly jazz and classical as with SACD and DVD-A. I think this is part of what helped to undermine those formats. BD multi-channel audio will be great for old school soul and rhythm'n'blues - Smokey Robinson, Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles.
