I have a problem, and im not sure where its coming from, when i watch blu rays i notice that i hear crackling sounds, i noticed it alot in leon, and have notice it other movies too, well alot of movies, but no issues when playing games or blasting my music of my ps3
i have a ps3 slim, hooked up to a sony str dg720 by hdmi
i have tried to bitstream the audio instead of lpcm, to see if there was a difference, and there wasnt
i tried switching around hdmi cables and receiver slots to see if there was a difference, but there wasnt
but then i hook up a digital optical cable from my ps3 to receiver and sent the audio through that, the problem went away?....
what do u think the problem lies with? ps3 or receiver?
im hoping its my receiver because im planning on getting a new one anyway
i just got my ps3, i would exchange it, but ive had it over the exchange time
same with receiver
any thoughts?
any questions feel free to ask
thanx

I read that the Onkyo's are a good starter receiver. Is this still the case? Any other recommendations? Trying to compile a list to research since the big holiday shopping season is approaching. Thanks to any and all for advice and recommendations.

So I get that PTA is overseeing the blu-ray releases of Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love (did I hear Boogie Nights in there too?).

My question is more focused on TWBB. Are there any clues as to we've already gotten the best release we can hope for for a while, or is there something planned already with a bit more added in the special features department. That $10 price tag from Amazon right now is telling me it's time to upgrade that ol' DVD now.

Any info is appreciated!

...hook up two receivers to one speaker? Via the HF binding posts for one receiver and the LF posts for another?

Here's the situation. I'm about to get an XPA-3, and maybe even an UPA-2. Now, I route all my sound through my VSX-03. When watching TV, playing video games (rare enough), music, movies, etc.

But what I don't want to do is have the amplifiers running when I'm simply watching TV (outside of football), watching at incredibly low volumes, or when my roommates are watching TV shows (DVD) at low volumes. So what I planned on doing is using a spare Sony receiver (STR-DGsomething, I can't recall...720? was that it? 7 something) I've come into possession to hook up to the television and the DVD player they use. Now, here's the tricky part. Can I then run wire from this second receiver to the open binding posts on the other speakers?

And, I'm guessing I do, but I run a huge risk if somehow both receivers happen to be on and send the same signal at the same time, correct? Maybe I should get alternate tiny speakers and hide them somewhere...

...In any case, just checking.
