Default http://www.jdoqocy.com

There a lot of folks posting external site urls (mainly for deals) that have http://www.jdoqocy.com embedded/hidden in the link. Where do we stand on this type of thing?

If you go to jdoqocy.com you are redirected http://www.cj.com (Commission Junction) which is a $/click marketing company. Here are a few posts that include the links:

Best Buy Deal

300 Deal

Panny TV

I don't like the idea of clicking on links that take me to anywhere but directly to the site described and I know there are at least a couple of other members that feel the same way.

I completely agree with you, there is one reason for this though: Our forum is very popular among spammers and especially our Hot Deals forum is like a huge honeypot and we are/were having a lot of people spamming affiliate links to retailers. So our solution was to change those affiliate links so we get credit instead. This way spammers don't have any incentive to post their links in our forum and at the same time we get credit in their place, so win-win

We have also introduced a protection filter against redirects because we don't like them either. All redirect links will be automatically replaced with the true link, with the exception of the jdoqocy.com link, because it's currently the only way to get credit with Best Buy (through Commission Junction which Best Buy uses). We are hoping that Best Buy start to use a similar solution to Amazon, then we can get rid of last redirect link

Ohhh....that's what that was.

I noticed as well. Hmm, well, if it's in BR.com's best interests, then...all's good!
