Also, for those keeping track of my M&K sub build who may have missed it.

Below you can see the inside of the cabinet, along with the upward-firing driver protective mesh. I am using a 12 AWG speaker wire, but I think it was too rigid (should have used 14 AWG instead). I had to be careful, when I seated the driver, not to bend the wire too much because the driver terminal could have broken from the pressure. Luckily I managed and the connection was very secure.

Here you can see the front-firing driver in place. The cabinet kit came with the screws that fit perfectly on the driver holes. You can see the kit-provided poly-fill as well. Note the slight imperfection/crack on the bottom of the cabinet. It is totally cosmetic (I guess that justifies the B-stock classification) and has no impact what so ever. You can also see my home-made ~1" rubber feet, which I got from an exercise mat.

Finally, here you can see the upward-firing driver in place. The wires are wired out of phase as required in this sub, i.e., the "+" terminal to black and the "-" terminal to red.

I did get a chance to test the sub with the amp and it worked. The amp is a nice one, the auto-off goes from red to green when it senses a signal, which is how amp auto-off should work (I have two others that stay red). Also, I connected and disconnected the input cable and power cable and did not hear any pop or any sound of any kind. I have two others that have a loud pop when they are turned off.

Also, I placed an order with Parts Express for binding posts, which I will be installing at the bottom/inside of the amp so that they are out of sight and easily accessibe through the opening at the bottom.

So, now the next step will require some time, since I have to build the enclosure for the amp, which will require measuring, cutting, drilling, screwing, bleeding, sweating, etc.

I love this stuff!

Simply Beautiful,Vega,my Friend.
I see you waisted No Time in getting the Sub itself assembled as soon as you could.

It Looks Amazing.I can Only Imagine the Incredibly Deep and Tight Bass this M&K Beast Will Produce.

I am also looking forward to seeing the amp in its finished state. But I am Thrilled All of the Tests went well(Especially No Loud Pops)A Soft On and Off can be a Tricky Situation for Many a Subwoofer. As I have learned.

Luckily its a Problem I dont have either. But it is all too common(Even in High-End~High-Dollar Subs)Which,I Certainly Consider Yours High-End,But I would probably be in Shock if I knew how much was saved in building it yourself.

You certainly have the Skill and the Talent,Buddy.
She will be a Great Addition to Your Home Theater when she is Completed(Which may not be too far off).

So,Congratulations, and as always Incredible Craftsmanship and a Beautiful End Product.

Believe it or not,I am still up,my Friend.
I waited a little later then normal to take my last dose of medicines. So,I should be good for another hour or so.

Also waiting for my Dad to get Back from Wal Mart.
Trying to get all prescriptions filled and all food we need bought and taken care of today.
Because if we get a Foot of Snow and Ice we will be paralyzed for Days.
They cant deal with it in this state at all.And other then 2 inches here or there we havent had a big winter event since December 2004.

Plus I am still doing some searching and trying to find some Star Wars items. As well as figuring out which DIY Speaker Kit I may decide to purchase.

Big Daddy sent me a PM and suggested a few different models he gave me Links for. So,I am not sure which way to go.As these are Speakers for My 2-Channel System. So,how they sound Musically Means a lot.

Default Amp enclosure progress

Here's what I managed to complete so far on the amp enclosure. I used two pieces of white laminate shelving cut in half. I wanted black, but could not find it anywhere, so I will settle with white since it has to blend in with the color scheme of the room gray/white anyway. Now I need to add the support pieces that will hold the amp and then add feet and protective meshing in the back. More to come.

Default Further progress pics

Amp enclosure almost complete. I should be receiving remaining parts from Parts Express on Monday. Here's a few progress pics.

Amp support in place

Amp in place

Rear view. Drilled three 3/4" holes in the bottom to help with air-flow.

Mid-brace and mesh rear protection. Used galvenized chicken wire I had laying around.

Another view. I still need to apply self-adhesive velvet to cover the bare wood and once I receive the binding posts, I will install them midway on the right, where the bare wood is. I'll also be adding small rubber feet to help it stand in place.

Test run. The size is pretty small, so placement is very easy. Everything works fine. Monitoring for heat, so far so good.

Thank you Sammy! I have only had a chance to put on a blu for the kids, Happy Feet, which, unfortunately only has lossy 5.1. But I know the lows have more authority and give a bigger slam. I am happy so far and it's only in a temporary location. I definitely will be putting it to the test with several specific scenes from movies I am very familar with. I can also tell you that as good as it does alone, it is a whole new level with all four on, at the same time!

I see you have Cloverfield, that should cover all your LFE needs and desires.

Thank you Sean. The end result is just as fun as the planning, drawing, measuring and then doing. I really get a kick from doing stuff like this. Then when folks like you say that it looks good, well then that is icing on the cake.
