Default $10 Rebate on The Rock, Con Air, or Crimson Tide by mail if you own the DVD.

I was in Best Buy today and it was the first time I've ever seen early releases. I was able to pick up The Rock and Con Air a full week early...even though I have them pre-ordered. There is an insert for an official mail-in-rebate for owners of these films on DVD. Looks like it expires on 12/31/08 and here's exactly what it says to do to get your rebate.

Buy:
Any version/edition of these films on DVD:
Con Air - Crimson Tide - The Rock PLUS the SAME film on Blu-ray High-Def.

Mail:
1) This original, hand-printed, completed certificate (no photocopies allowed).
2) Proof-of-purchase tab or UPC from your original DVD.
3) Proof-of-purchase tab from your Blu-ray High-Def version of the same movie.
4) Cash register receipt from your NEW Blu-ray High-Def purchase imprinted with store name and dated between 1/8/08 and 12/31/08 with purchase price circled (photocopies acceptable).

Receive:
A $10 rebate by mail
Please allow 6-8 weeks for check to arrive.

Just a little heads up for those who are interested. I put the instructions up word for word, but there is some more information at the bottom on limitations and such.

I wouldn't do this even if I had the DVD. I ain't cutting up my artwork of my Blu-ray.

Yeah I wouldn't cut mine either, but I felt like I had something to contribute so I posted it. I don't own the DVDs either. It's too bad they don't have athe proof of purchase on the inside as some sort of insert.

I wanted to do this with my Cars, I hate to cut up my cover art though...

I'm not going to destroy my Blu box either. No way. Hell, I wouldn't mind if they asked for the original DVD. I'd break it in half and stick it in an envelope with the receipt from the Blu-ray version. What more proof should they need?

PS: No, I'm not kidding.

I mean plus you have to wait 6-8 weeks for 10 bucks!! The wait is not worth the money.

What if you buy them online? Do you just give them a printout invoice?

Where's the proof of purchase on the Criterion version of The Rock? Do you just cut off the barcode?

I've been very impressed with the way Disney handles rebates. They deliver and they don't pull tricks with your rebate claims. If this was another company I probably wouldn't waste my time but I think I'm going to do these rebates.

Would the Criterion version of The Rock count?

To Cut the Box or not?

I have Disney $5 off coupons so that would make these moives $14.99 each

but if cut the box and send in the rebate for $10 back that would make these movies only $4.99 each.

Saving me $45.00 in the long run. (Also give me More money for Blus )

I guess I could cut the box.... I don't know. Luckl for me I have until Tuesday to decided.

Good Question, I have that one too. Once I have the rebate, I'm going to call the number and ask them.

Well my 2 cents is cut the damn tiny proof of purchase from the back of the cover insert. Like another post mentioned it just provides more cash I can use to get additional movies.

I just did the Cars $10 rebate (on top of a $5 dollar off coupon at purchase) so I'm saving $15 from the purchase.

Now I'm going to do the same thing for Ratatouille and get another $10 dollar rebate since I'm upgrading from DVD to Blu-ray.

I just bought Con Air on Blu-ray and there's no rebate in it. Is there a website or something where we can get this rebate?
