An SPL meter is not an absolute necessity. It is something that gives you the option of tweaking your system manually. If you do not have a subwoofer, then you should set your speakers to large. If you do have a subwoofer, you should connect it to the sub output (LPE output) on the back of the receiver and set all your speakers to small. The location of the subwoofer can have a major effect on the quality of bass. You need to experiment and place the subwoofer in different locations. Two subwoofers is always a better solution for evening out the bass in the room.

HI BD. I was just wondering would i be wasting my time getting a spl meter if i have audussey multieq xt. i have monitor a's gx 100 which carry nice bass, ive connected my hi level rel cable to the speaker terminals on the amp also hooked up is the single cable to the lfe on the back of the sub. my denon amp is put on to large speakers and ive put the sub to NO. iVE ran audussey before with crossver at 40 and disabled the one on the back of the sub. But ive found that having it the first way sounds so much lower and nicer. Though it sounds nice to my ears, is there a better way . Just want quality not quantity. Also my xo on the back of the sub is between 60 and 80, since the xo in the amp is now full range. Is this correct. thankyou in advance. I love bass.

    JyggaWatts.

Such converters exist. Go to the end of post #1 in the following thread. You will find links and information about balanced/unbalanced connection.

    Hey BD,
Im looking to make a small upgrade & possibly purchasing either Emotiva XPA-5 or XPA-3,everyone seems to say Emotiva are best bang for the buck. My question to you is since these amps have the option of using the balanced inputs, how can i connect it to my receiver that doesnt have balanced inputs, is there a converter of some kind and what is the benefit of using balanced inputs if im able to? Also, you being a master in this field would you recommend trying this or just sticking with using the unbalanced inputs? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    thanks again

My Def Tech towers are BP2000 and they do not have a port. Call Definitive Technology and ask them. Maybe, they can help you.

I recently got a full set of two amp and bass drivers of the bp2000 TL towers. Why? Well. I want to make a set of two woofers for home theater using independent cabinets.

My only problem at this point that is holding me back is that ....I don't have the net internal enclosure volume info on this unit.

    I have the bp2000TL.

Also did noticed the back of the bp2000TL and their version looks bass reflex. I do not have the vent port info neither.

Is there is any way you can help me out on these 2 issues?

By doing so....you will allow me to have two woofers in my living room at very low cost . I have someone ready to do the cabinet construction. But ..I need the info.

    Thanks once again.

    Gio.
