    Hi there,
I was just reading your excellent review on Argent Films (UK) bluray of Fellini's 8 1/2. I didn't see it mentioned but can you tell me what color the subtitles are. I know on previous DVD releases some white subs were barely visible. I own an ancient US Image Entertainment (?) DVD and the subs are yellow...very easy to read but a little distracting.
Also, do you remember if the UK bluray came with a slipcover? Overall, would you recommend this version? I'm tempted by the Criterion but it's more than twice the price.

    Thanks for your reply,

Maybe the exact word of "noise" is not appropriate way to describe the differences in picture quality, sorry i didn't want to sound in this way,but the word more "grainy" is the way to describe the differences between this two versions.
Do you make the reviews on a big screen?

    Regards

    Thank you for your note

I don't know what equipment you are using and what you are seeing, but neither of the two releases you address has the distracting noise you mention. The transfers for the Criterion and Artificial Eye releases were done on ARRISCAN in 2K, directly from the 35mm negative. This, by default, immediately excludes the presence of "noise".

    Have a wonderful week.
