    [Continued from previous post...]

CS also had me check an ebook. I didn't see anything in a bunch of pages in an eBook I downloaded to check this, but I definitely could see it in the User's Guide. Plus, I didn't want the uncertainty and the possibility that the lines would show up occasionally on random pages in eBooks here and there down the road. They were distracting, for me anyway.

And it took me a while to figure out the potential cause. But those lines aligned exactly with the edge of the padding on the lid on both sides (near the bottom of the screen, near the keyboard, BTW). It think it was just caused by too much pressure on the lid during shipping, ironically from the padding that was supposed to protect the screen/unit.

In any case, I take it that this was a rare occurrence and so yours should be perfect (our replacement was). Just flip through a lot of pages to check while you are testing it out so you can exchange it during the return period if necessary.

    No problem, LeAnn.

I almost didn't catch it, since the lines only showed up occasionally on a few of the pages while I was reading the User's Guide.

The weird, and tricky, thing about this was that it showed up only on a few pages (the same pages consistently) and not on all the pages, which is what one would expect from a damaged screen.

Because of this one of the CS reps thought it might be that the file of the User's Guide on my Kindle was corrupted, and not a problem with my screen. So CS first had me delete the User's Guide file from the Kindle and re-download it to see if the pdf file was corrupted. However, the same lines showed up on the newly downloaded copy as well, and CS didn't see those lines one theirs.

Thank you for the great advice about the Kindle! I am hoping it will be perfect!
