I thought it was pretty good. You might like it. I wouldn't say it's that close to The American but it is a movie starring humans Here is the IMDb link. I've got the Criterion release on DVD

I do have the Criterion Le Samourai on DVD. I have only seen it once but I think I enjoyed it. I do have the Criterion Spy as well but that one was perhaps too talky for me. I'll have to go back and give it another watch. I do have Drive as well and thought it was pretty good. I don't know if these films are that similar but have you seen the 1984 film The Hit?

Maybe I'll have to look for it. We do have an FYE in town so I might find it there. I'll have to give it another watch. I've found that movies I didn't really like at first can be better a second time around because I'm not expecting too much. The same happened to me with the Swedish Dragon Tattoo.
Speaking of The American, I did have to look it up on IMDb recently to see if Rebecca Ferguson was in it. I think I was wondering if she was the one that was going to use the rifle he was building but it was a different actress. I'm not a film buff so I don't know my history that well. What other films would you compare The American to?

Ah thanks. I was pretty bored with that film the first time I saw it but I appreciate it more now if only for the Italian landscapes I do have it on DVD and wish I had gotten it on Blu Ray at some point.

Yo, I know you're not checking out the thread for Alien Covenant but did you see the new poster? It's pretty baller.

I'm still a bit salty over his take on The Revenant, tbh. He sounded like he did NOT want to give it a chance over the fact he dislikes Iñárritu major league. I mean, hell, I didn't like Birdman and find Iñárritu kind of stuffy myself but I went in with an open mind and wound up loving the film.

You also forgot how he omitted other releases over the past couple of weeks like Moana and Hacksaw Ridge, the latter in particular surprised me because that sure as hell was available on Amazon.

I like how he has a distinctive voice in his opinions, but I hate how selective he's been lately on covering what's coming out. He'd use to cover up to five new releases, maybe more but now he's slimming down and I find it bothersome. Kind of makes him look lazy or dismissive of whatever doesn't cater to his interests.

1998 was the last year all best actor winners were fictional. Almost two decades ago.
