Welcome back! I contend the site is always better off with a Mifunefan present!

Don't forget to post Who Framed Rodger Rabbit? in your A-to-Z list of neo-noir, a wholly unique entry in that sub genre.

For what it's worth : I'm reading the entire Bob Lee Swagger series in order [next comes his dad's (Earl) series and two books about Ray Cruz (his ###)]. Anyway, in case you're short time and really only want to focus on something closer to your interests, I believe you could read The 47th Samurai outside of the order without ruining anything (that's based on being 2/3 of the way thru). It's different than the earlier Swagger books, and not just because of the swords instead of guns thing. For one, it's about 100 pages shorter and more focused on Bob Lee in real time; for another, it mentions, and refers to, past events without revealing too much detail. Like I said, for what it's worth.

"The samurai left town. You're stuck with the old white guy."

"I will call him and tell him of the gaijin who thinks he's Toshiro Mifune. He and I will have a good laugh."
    - The 47th Samurai, Stephen Hunter

Couldn't help but think of your callsign when I read that line. Happy Belated Birthday!

Hey MifuneFan! I was wondering what your favorite samurai movies were. I've seen quite a few movies thanks to Hulu that aren't on blu yet but was hoping to maybe get some recommendations!
