Thanks Taygan. Yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy 3D in the theater was awesome. TMNT 3D is also up for one of the strongest 3D films of 2014 in theaters. Enjoy!

it says it can play on standard blu-ray players, does this mean for 3D players its locked out, or can it be told to play in 2D?

Hi Clay, I have a fox title with a 2D playable extra like with life of pi 3D which also has 2D playable materials from the 3D disc.

It is the newly released Mr Peabody and Sherman, the 3D version has the all new rocky and bullwinkle short cartoon that can play in 2D mode also (as obviously the 3D film and the 3D theatrical trailer are flagged), my 3D player is attached to a 2D tv.

will i be able to have the short play on it if i tell my 3D player its connected to a 2D tv, or am i locked out of using it unless a 3D TV is present as well? (already have player, would i need 3D HDTV, glasses, HDMI 1.4 cable?).

As long as your view is filled with the screen, and as long as the 3D is strong and you're at the correct viewing angle to avoid ghosting, you're in the right spot for the most exciting pop outs as if you were sitting in an Imax 3D surround theater, which wraps around your field of view.

I can imagine a larger curved 3DTV might be similar if sitting close enough for the 3D.

Weaker, mild 3D though, often looks better sitting further back than too close.
As BleedOrange mentioned awhile back, some 3D looks better further back, as if the stereographer intended it that way. But this is usually true for more mild 3D, since Avatar's 3D looks good up close or far back.

Hi Taygan! Great to see you as a regular member of the Blu Ray 3D forum. Cool to see it's been going for 4+ years since 3DTVs started offering more choices in 2009, 2010, etc.

Sorry for the late reply. I forget to look at the notifications tab up top except by accident.

For strong 3D films, yes, you can definitely sit closer to the screen, say 5 foot away is good, provided you're at the right angle to avoid ghosting. For Thunder and the House of Magic's strong 3D, I sit about 5 foot away for the best effect. For the pop outs, it's fun to get about 1 foot away from the screen during the pop outs, so the entire screen is in your view. With your projector though, your view distances sound good! 8 foot away. 11' away is nice for regular viewing, agreed with your size screen at 124. That is awesome.

ok, so its only the text. the castle is a background object, so it and everything else around it is the 2D image, and i would wear my passive 3D glasses for the text?

Hi Clay, since you've viewed Disney's movies in Disney Digital 3D before, i had a specific question about viewing the current castle that starts and ends their movies in 3D.

Does the castles whole startup and closing sequence come out of the screen when wearing the 3D glasses, or does only the text come at me?

It's ok, they seem to be emphasizing marvel and its own releases on the format. this started with Frozen for Pixar, Oz the Great and Powerful for Disney.

I learned DisneyToon's revocation of physical BD 3D's was a separate decision by the studio to do those titles as Digital 3D only releases.

Ratatouille 3D for here is deferred not blocked entirely as i also learned, meaning we could get it time willing.

Monsters University was the last one they did (both Disney and Pixar) for home viewing.

as we approach inside out next year as it is an original idea entirely, do you think there is a chance we see home release or is it also taken away and released 2D only with the 3D for streaming?

Marvel titles are emphasized as Disney is merged with them, and they operate independently of Disney where they can decide if a BD 3D is to release or not. it seems marvel has a heart to release physical BD 3D's still.

they are problematic a studio now, i doubt it has the ability to fix its own problems. i am on my own for this studio, i recognize it now.
