Thankyou for the kind comments on my setup. That is actually an old setup I had and I really do need to get around to taking some pictures of my newer setup but I want to get everything in place (I have a few more things I want to do) before I do. Currently running with a 5.1 speaker setup (they where hand me downs that I got for free whilst I decide what I wish to get [i'm eyeing krix speakers], panasonic 65vt60 and benq w7000 and a region free blu-ray player (pioneer, but the exact model escapes me atm).

Hey Clay, i am still fighting for the BD 3D supporters even though more studios are pulling away from it, not just Disney.

Now warner is as well, lionsgate has done so with Step Up all in. I think it is a temporary thing and i think it will be back, i have not given up hope for 3D, i think it can work.

I will be owning my first 3D device in a month, its not a 3D TV. i would love to find a fairly priced set if you can direct me to resources that have 3D TV deals for a fair price (looking to eventually trade my samsung 403 non smart for a fairly priced 3D Smart).

Do you think there is still hope, and that mainly Disney can clean its act up?

Thanks Taygan. Yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy 3D in the theater was awesome. TMNT 3D is also up for one of the strongest 3D films of 2014 in theaters. Enjoy!

it says it can play on standard blu-ray players, does this mean for 3D players its locked out, or can it be told to play in 2D?

Hi Clay, I have a fox title with a 2D playable extra like with life of pi 3D which also has 2D playable materials from the 3D disc.

It is the newly released Mr Peabody and Sherman, the 3D version has the all new rocky and bullwinkle short cartoon that can play in 2D mode also (as obviously the 3D film and the 3D theatrical trailer are flagged), my 3D player is attached to a 2D tv.

will i be able to have the short play on it if i tell my 3D player its connected to a 2D tv, or am i locked out of using it unless a 3D TV is present as well? (already have player, would i need 3D HDTV, glasses, HDMI 1.4 cable?).

As long as your view is filled with the screen, and as long as the 3D is strong and you're at the correct viewing angle to avoid ghosting, you're in the right spot for the most exciting pop outs as if you were sitting in an Imax 3D surround theater, which wraps around your field of view.

I can imagine a larger curved 3DTV might be similar if sitting close enough for the 3D.

Weaker, mild 3D though, often looks better sitting further back than too close.
As BleedOrange mentioned awhile back, some 3D looks better further back, as if the stereographer intended it that way. But this is usually true for more mild 3D, since Avatar's 3D looks good up close or far back.

Hi Taygan! Great to see you as a regular member of the Blu Ray 3D forum. Cool to see it's been going for 4+ years since 3DTVs started offering more choices in 2009, 2010, etc.

Sorry for the late reply. I forget to look at the notifications tab up top except by accident.

For strong 3D films, yes, you can definitely sit closer to the screen, say 5 foot away is good, provided you're at the right angle to avoid ghosting. For Thunder and the House of Magic's strong 3D, I sit about 5 foot away for the best effect. For the pop outs, it's fun to get about 1 foot away from the screen during the pop outs, so the entire screen is in your view. With your projector though, your view distances sound good! 8 foot away. 11' away is nice for regular viewing, agreed with your size screen at 124. That is awesome.

ok, so its only the text. the castle is a background object, so it and everything else around it is the 2D image, and i would wear my passive 3D glasses for the text?
