I'm not sure I completely understand what you are asking. I would assume that Lionsgate wants to incentivize people to pick up the remake while they buy the Criterion, and selling it cheap is the best way to do that. However, it looks like it's been hovering around the $5 mark for some time now. At the end of the day, i's just an old title (in fact I would call it the first "major" release I ever reviewed for the site) that naturally falls in price over time, the old "supply and demand" curve theory from economics.
