Beautiful video, that is one brave (or foolish) guy on the rock between the cliffs. I will try to watch it in 4k on my 84" tv

We'll at the Q & A he was talking about the tone and how he intended it to be campier than his previous films, so it's at least intended in certain points, a lot at the screening were laughing at parts that were funny and scenes not so funny (necrophilia scene certainly had some awkward laughter in it).

It's just outside of my top 5 of the year. I get it, that it's light on story, but I thought it was a fascinating look at the superficiality of beauty, of judging people on beauty. It's a deceptively hollow film, it makes you consider the nature of attraction and the ugly, vacuous ideals behind attraction and self-worth. It is a massive vanity project but unlike Only God Forgives which I thought was just full of violent angst and adolescences, The Neon Demon had a bit a cheek and camp to it, it wasn't entirely serious and wore it's genre on it's sleeve.

Weather has been great and we have spent a lot of time visiting family, so it has been a great summer. I am currently reading 20000 Leagues Under the Sea and am waiting until September 23 to start LotR, having finished The Hobbit earlier. I started the year by reading Silmarillion, although I skip that during some years. Another very interesting book I have just read is Beyond Biocentrism, by the stem cell researcher Robert Lanza. He suggests that consciousness is the basis of the universe. I hope that as Galadriel once said, that "you are using well the days".

    It's not a bullet, it's a synthesiser.

Ironically enough though, I have a treatment for a short film on my laptop that I came up with in College of a guy who gets haunted by a cat that he accidently runs over, so perhaps I do have some deep down hatered of cats that I'm not fully aware of.

Well deserved compliments. Although the Mac gear is out of my league, I have a buddy with a ton of their gear. It is very nice indeed. Overpriced? Maybe. But one thing is for sure, IT IS a solid investment. Nothing brings more money on resale than Mac gear. It will only go up in value. The sound ain't half bad either.

Well I've got a preview screening of The Neon Demon next week with Nic Winding Refn attending, that's certainly boat floating for me.

Fair enough, I've heard a lot of great stuff, but live action Disney remakes don't really do much for me.

I haven't, I was going to watch it earlier in the week but just didn't feel like it. Might eventually see it.
