Yeah, but simply referring to the PSP as a gaming device is incorrect. In addition, the battery on the IPOD is definitely greater. I'm not denying that.

The extended battery for the iPod is pretty ugly/big right?

The PSP one isn't as bad as that!

The PSP 1000 is bulky and the 3000 is slim, so you can actually fit it into your pocket. It's not as slim as the iPOD, but it's still slim.

You're referring to the PSP as a gaming device and telling someone to go out and spend money on it if he plays games. He could never touch a psp game and still get plenty of use out of it.

I didn't tell everyone who sided with the touch they are wrong. I argued where invalid points are invalid and showed why. Once again opinions are fine.

You can look at photos, play music, play movies, surf the web, download movies, game data, etc from the Sony store on the PSP. It hooks up to the PS3 so you can transfer your movies to it to watch on the big screen.

You can do quite a bit with the PSP. It's not simply a gaming system and neither is the PS3. While both are capable of playing games they serve other functions as well.
ok we understand you love and want to marry the psp, however why buy something just because it can do all these wonderful things if they are never going to be utilized?

just because a machine can do a million things that does not automatically make it the best machine available.

I got rid of my PSP for an iPhone. Best decision I've ever made (IMO).

You didn't. Xtop said to base that for his decision as to whether to get a PSP or not and I said that's not a correct basis to get it or not as he could play a game on there or not.

It's still much bigger than an iPod. The whole iPod is the same size as the PSP screen and much thinner.

Anyway, I'm in agreement with xtop, it depends on the OP's requirements...

I believe I said it was bigger then the iPOD. And yeah it's slimmer which I also said, but the PSP can still fit into your pocket.

In addition, the larger screen size is better for watching movies on the PSP.

It does depend on the OP's requirements but xtop is incorrect in basing it off of a basis to play games or not.

It's a lot bigger though, the iPod is pretty small and pretty thin, and if you aren't going to game at all, then why have all the extra weight and sacrifice a superior browser and interface?

I would sacrifice it for the upgradeable memory, larger screen size and remote play capabilities. But that's me.

i haven't been very impressed with the number or quality of PSP games though. they need to release a lot more.

Well as least the OP isn't thinking about a Nintendo DS

I had this dilemma about a month ago and I went with the PSP 3000 and I am VERY happy with my purchase. Great for movies, great for music, great for games and I'm still finding new stuff about it.

ignoring every post here - as most on the first page are stupid - I say the i-Pod touch. I have a PSP phat, a PSP-2000, and iPod Touch 32GB, and recently had a PSP-3000 (long story. lets just say that i don't anymore.). I can seriously say that - as much as i LOVE the PSP - I definitely use my iPod touch more. Not necessarily for games, but for everything else. My PSP phat and psp-2000 have custom firmwares as well allowing me to just freely download any games i want.
So for me, i have a PSP that i can do practically anything on - and an iPod touch (and no, i did not Jailbreak it. ...i tried, failed somehow, and returned it saying it had a HDD corruption. Win for me), and yet i still use the iPod more.

I guarantee you that you will not regret buying the iPod. Showing it off to people is always fun to see their reactions. Throwing them a virtual i-pint, or letting them play PapiJump... zooming into pictures and web pages by pinching, etc. Its definitely very show-off-able.
That being said, The PSP has Resistance Retribution and God of War. and of course remote play, rentable games, and removable memory. Make your pick. Just know that you will NOT regret the iPod.

IA. I use my PSP primarily to view movies. In fact, I would say 90% of its usage comes from movie watching

I posted this over a month ago in another thread:

Toy Bot Diaries

LineRider

Cube Runner 2

Those are my personal favorites. Also here's a really nice music app:

Bloom

There's also some nice utility applications. Here's my favorite, though it costs 25 bucks, it's TOTALLY worth it as it gives you access to your desktop anywhere in the world:

Jaadu VNC (formerly Jaadu Click)
The thing to remember about the iPod Touch is that its abilities will greatly improve with the release of each firmware update. As somebody previously said, there's an extremely slim chance that you'll be disappointed in a Touch, but you will inevitably eventually become bored with the PSP. I did, and sold mine for an iTunes gift card to get more games. The touch is just more practical of a device to carry around with you since it's smaller.

Anybody who thinks the games for the Touch are less than great, feel free to PM me. I'll recommend you other games in addition to the ones above that will blow all of your friend's minds, have them wanting a Touch, and take up all of your free time!

If you have already bought all your music and videos from iTunes then it would be a waste of money to buy a PSP for your media player.

However, if you are starting fresh with media content downloading, then I still would go with iTouch as its the superior media player.

Though if you are wondering if the games (or apps for iTouch) are better, then the PSP will beat it out. I mean, there is FF Crisis Core and God of War...

Yeah those two games are great. The PSP is definitely the better of the two with games, however the Touch can hold its own to a certain extent. I just purchased Payback, which is basically a GTA clone for the Touch. It's extremely fun.
