Morning there

I like some of the cover that you have created, unfortunately I am living in Singapore.

How do I go about obtaining some of the nice cover? Please enlightened me?

Thanks

PM the artist. If they are in a giving mood, then they will send you the file which you can print at your leisure.

Thanks mate! I can't wait to print this and use it as the cover for my blu. I've fallen in love with this film; it's visuals and silent movie like quality with the speech coming from the actor's expressions.

So I guess it's time to start working on Indiana jones covers.

Alright, so I don't have the tools or the computer skills to make a really good version of one of these, but in the case of Re-Animator I think the DVD already has a great cover and I wanted to see what it would look like translated to Blu-ray (but with a green case like the DVD).

It's basically the same for my May cover, except there's not a pending release for this one, as of yet. I like the cover, but a better one could be made. I'd especially like to see a stylized one like Criterion might make. (I've said on these forums before that I'd kill for May to be added to CC's catalog, but I don't ever expect it to happen.)

Criticize if you like, but I wasn't trying to design something amazing, just killing some time, and getting an idea of what these respective releases might look like.

Not the best image quality, since I took it with my mobile, though I did want to share.

Here's my first try, at a Blu-ray cover for Shame - however, still not finished. Didn't really feel the official cover art did much justice at capturing the emotion of the film. Instead, I used the artwork from one of the film's posters, for a cover. Along with the quotes from the actual official Blu-ray cover. And I also felt inspired by everyone else's designs. Thanks for any comments.

Personally, I thought the poster with the sprawled bedsheets was perfect.

+1. Although that custom art is way better than the crap official cover.

Welcome to the hobby, and you're off to a good start, I must say.

It wouldn't have been my personal choice to include the quotes on the front, at least not that prominently. As they are, I feel they distract from the poster. YMMV, but it seems off to me, when the quotes are as big as the movie's title.

I have found, however, that quotes lend an air of authenticity to custom covers, so by all means keep them.

Looking forward to seeing your progress on the cover. Keep up the good work.

Received a request for an alternate poster for the front of my "A View to a Kill" custom cover from my series of 007 covers that I produced months ago:

It makes it look like a PG-13 romantic comedy.

Thanks for all the feed back! :) I really took into account the suggestions and tips about how to get my first fan cover art, to the best that I can. It's so exciting!

I really liked the French poster art for this film, but not sure why I prefer the poster art I used. I guess I found it a bit more erotic, somehow. Too, I couldn't find a high res one of the bed sheets poster.

I've gone ahead and made the quotes smaller than the title of the movie. But I might shrink them just a bit more. I need to find a good AP logo for one of my quotes.

As for the back, I've played around with it. But that's still a work in progress. Hopefully this draft looks better than the last. Again, thanks for your feed back and I welcome more!

Having so much fun!

Love almost everything about it, but IMO the quotes are still way too big. I don;t think they should be bigger than the director's name, but that's just me. Use them to pepper emphasis, not draw away from the art or credits.

Also, the photos and specs on the back look stretched.

Otherwise, for a first cover, it looks great.

universityboy 03-03-2012 04:44 AM

Gotten closer to a final cover design with this one. I went ahead and switched the quotes to the back cover portion. Leaving only a "Golden Globes" mention on the front cover. Figure, the cover design should speak more for the film, than any quote, as you guys pointed out.

Yeah, for some reason, I couldn't get the pictures on the back to look right or at least how I wanted them. So, I went ahead with a cleaner look, by not using them. I figured, less is more in this case. But I think this is it for now, I'll give it a days break, so I can come back to it with new eyes later on.

But this has been so much fun! I can't wait to start a second cover one of these days. What do you guys think?
