What about a custom of Halloween II (zombie)? I cant stand that cover art :p

JJE-187 10-24-2010 03:15 AM

Does anybody have single covers for these? I hate having multiple movies in a single case.
RoboCop
RoboCop 2
RoboCop 3
Rocky
Rocky II
Rocky III
Rocky IV
Rocky V
Rocky Balboa
Rocky bonus disc

Time to start working on this one I guess.

is the back to the future slip cover wide enough for a multidisc case like the one for the rocky balboa collection or some other 6 or 7 disc set?
i actually like the slipcover just despise the crappy plain plastic digi packing.

If the outerslipcover is wide enough to hold a multidisc case, i would just want to print or find trilogy cover art to use in a multidisc case and put the slip cover over it.

Hey,

As I just received my copy of the Donnie Darko UK release I was wondering if anyone here tried to make a custom cover for it. I would appreciate if you would share your tries :)

Thats the original theatrical poster art. Why dont you like it, that was actually the one of the few good things about that movie lol.

Does anyone have a custom cover for My Bloody Valentine (1981) that has the original cover?

ryanasaurus0077 10-24-2010 05:18 PM

Does anyone have templates for Disney Blu-ray-style Blu-ray+DVD and Disney DVD-style DVD+Blu-ray coverarts (like on the initial Blu-ray issues of the first two Toy Story movies) as well as Studio Ghibli-style Blu-ray coverart (like on the Blu-ray release of Ponyo)?

You can get a lot of resources from replacethecase.com

as far as templates go.

I searched the whole place, and they didn't have what I was looking for (specifically, the Disney Blu-ray logo, the current Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment logo, Blu-ray region codes, the Cinergi logo, the high-quality THX logo, high-quality MPAA ratings, high-quality DTS logos, high-quality Dolby logos, high-quality copy protection logos, the Disney BD Live logo, and high-quality DVD logos). Where can I find those?

Well, after a lot of trial and error (I think I have 4 or 5 "reject" box attempts sitting around right now... they are all functional, but have obvious imperfections), I think my BTTF set-box is pretty much done. This was my first time really doing something like this. But it's BTTF... so I was motivated!

I wasn't happy with the print quality when printing straight onto card stock. I then picked up some glossy photo paper, and my first attempt making a box out of it went okay, but the print was too easily smudged.

But today I finally made what I believe will be my final box for this set.

I actually had this spray can of glossy acrylic sealer that I got a while back for something else entirely. I made new prints on the glossy paper, let them dry for a bit, then I sprayed this stuff over them (the description said it works well for photos, so I figured what the heck).

As I cut out the pieces (I made tabs, etc, for where they would fold over and connect to be glued) and began to assemble them, I also cut out pieces of card stock paper that I glued (using krazy glue) to the inside of the box for extra support.

This final box still has a few imperfections, but it's the most "professional" looking out of all of my attempts. There are a few very minor bumps, etc, here and there, but nothing major.

The only thing that really irks me is that I got this that I got this weird imperfection/smudge mark from the top accidentally coming into contact with some stray crazy glue that was on the cardboard that I was assembling everything on. But I'm not going to attempt to make this again just because of that. This one turned out so good overall that I don't think I could do it again.

I have some pics below. The colors seems to come across as being more dull and less vibrant in the pics than they are in person, but I think that is due at least in part to the light reflecting on the coating that I put over the box.

But without further ado, here are the pics....

Wow, that looks amazing. That could've been official, but instead Universal had to go with a crappy case containing all three discs.

Ray_Rogers 10-25-2010 01:36 AM

Could someone please make a custom cover for VALKYRIE where instead of the idiotic Digital Copy shite there could be a blurb about it containing the film soundtrack? I already disc shredded the Digital Copy and paper shredded the code. Not sorry to the "advocates" for Digital Copy.
Guess this applies for all titles bearing the worthless Digital Copy blurb?

I could really use the individual Planet of the Apes covers since I moved my complete set to separate cases. However, when I tried to download them from the earlier post they were no longer available. Can I still get them some how. Thanks.

Cutoms for 13 ghosts and house of wax?

Hi everyone,

great work on here, I'm wondering if there are customs of 13 ghosts and house of wax available? I cannot stand having movie double packs.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just ordered the UK Alien Anthology. Realizing I might get tired of unfolding that super-long digibook :D, I'm working on 2 custom 3-BD cases:

Here's my trilogy, designed for a single-width case (I'm going to chuck out the digital copies, so I only need it to hold 3 discs):

http://forum.blu-ray.com/picture.php...pictureid=7130

I'm not sold on the back; I might try to put in the three big "dates" for each movie instead (1955/2015/1885) and skip the "description".

Looks nice but why not make a triptych for the posters?
Like I mentioned in another thread... Was going to find a good custom cover set but nixed it since I'll be getting the UK regular release. Looks very nice though! How about custom Blu-ray covers for the individual 2009 DVD releases? All you'd need to do is update the backs with the current extra feature specs, the current Blu-ray bar thing for video/audio/etc., Blu-ray logos instead of DVD and zero mention of Digital Copy. Could have the UPC be the different license plates for the DeLoreans per each film/Part.

Thanks for the comments, Ray. I'm not really interested in just doing a port of the DVD releases, to be honest. For one thing, I don't want three cases, I want one; and for another, that seems like cheating or something. Dunno.

As for the cover/triptych...hadn't thought of it. I might give it a try, but I'm not sanguine about how it would turn out; these aren't posters that really lend themselves well to being spliced into thirds, as I did with my Vacation Trilogy set (there's too much repetition among the posters), but I may give it a try.

For my money, though, this image of Marty and the DeLorean works equally well for all three of the movies, and is pretty iconic to boot.

Mostly, I'm just not quite happy with the back, so I'll probably do a bit more tweaking there.

Perhaps make it more clustered together with wiring/rust and a more retro 1980's feel instead of ultra high tech? If I had the know how I'd be belting out alot of custom covers all the time.
What about something for the reverse of the cover so there'd be something to look at when you open the 3-Disc Viva Elite? Glad you junk Digital Copies also.
That's another thing which has been bugging me about non-Sony BD releases. The case is transparent but alot of the times zero printing for random film related things for the back covers. Don't even get me going about the Eco-Box crap.

Those turned out nice! I still think the titles need more of a red-to-yellow look (rather than what seems to be varying shades of orange), but that's just my personal preference.

Great job overall, though!

Unless I am mistaken, it looks like both you and dv8pdx must have started out with hi-res "raw" images of the poster art with no writing on them what-so-ever and then added the titles yourselves to where you wanted them to be placed.

I've been doing all kinds of internet searches and for the life of me I cannot find just the art from the posters without the titles or any writing (let alone hi-res versions). Can either of you send me those raw files? Even though I'm pretty much set with the ones that I've printed and am using for my discs, I'd like to try my hand at making some covers as well.

That turned out pretty cool as well. I may, for the heck of it, try making a design for two for a single case to hold all 3 movies. Even if I don't use them, being that I am a big BTTF fan, I will enjoy trying to make some cases for them. Plus I have a few ideas floating around in my head for this sort of case (a couple of which are fairly simple, but one of which is a big more ambitious and complicated).

And I may even end up using one when all is said and done, but I'm not sure yet. I'm actually going to be buying the US release of the Blu-Ray set later today, and I also have the UK limited edition tin coming as well. I also have some 3-disc Elite cases coming that I bought on ebay.

My plan for my main set (the one with the slip-box and 3 separate cases) has been to make my own custom combo packs out of the 3 movies, but I've been debating on the configuration. Both configurations will include the US Blu-Rays and one set of the original DVD releases (my wife and I actually have a few copies of the Trilogy on DVD... it's insane).

The part that I am debating on is to either also include the Digial Copies (which I don't really care about digital copies, but since I have them, I figured I may as well include them), or to possibly just put the UK Blu-Rays in the same set instead (in which case I'll just keep the Digital copies in the original packaging off to the side).

If I put the Digital Copies in the slip-box set with the 3 separate cases, then I may just make a single 3-disc "Trilogy" case for the UK versions.

Sure, just need to edit the back copy a bit. (I haven't seen the insert/booklet yet, but I'm hoping it will include most of that info.)

What is the spine size for your 6-disc case - 22 mm?

Just found this site yesterday. What a great resource for downsizing some of these sets into standard cases. Especially, for a graphically challenged. :)

I just ordered the Alien set from the UK. I have some 2-disk BR cases sitting around I plan to move them to. If you happen to do a set for three 2-disk cases that would be great. Otherwise, what you have will still work for my needs. Great work.

Still hoping to get access to "Planet of the Apes" (POTA) individual cover designs to replace the oversized book set I just got. :(

phraseturner 10-26-2010 06:00 PM

This 6-disc cover for Alien boxset will be perfect. Many thanks for creating it. I have an empty 6-disc 22.. case ready to go!

Is there a download link I can click on?

Fixed that & a few other tweaks (may have to refresh your view a couple times).

smithb: I can make 3 x 2-BD cases as well. And I made a set of single PotA cases, I'll PM some links! :)

Rusty100 10-26-2010 10:19 PM

I think I'd rather one case per Alien film, instead of two 3 disc sets.
I've ordered the Egg edition, but it would be nice to have them individually too. Might work on some covers for each, probably with original poster art.

Looks good, id say cut "volume 1" since its 1 case, just a thought

DreamScar 10-27-2010 12:30 AM

He already fixed that. If you refresh your page the fixed version will show up. My only critique is with using the same pic for the spine and the front cover. Certainly not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have something else/no pic on the spine.

Yeah, I'm guilty of that a lot! Maybe an Alien egg? Face hugger? Weyland-Yutani logo? :D

Rusty, I'm sure you can work some magic with the individual films! I was thinking of using the original ALIEN poster, which I love. I was a few years too young to see the first film (though I had that awesome original Alien toy), and there was always something so mysterious about that egg poster.

But the printers at my work are getting old & do not handle solids well. One of the reasons I put a lot of texture in my customs - hides all the imperfections!

Rusty100 10-27-2010 02:10 AM

haven't done it yet, there really aren't very many images to use for it, the main cover/poster art has the movie title embedded in it, which makes it very hard to separate the image from the title
i'll try to find an alternate image for the cover, if anyone else has any ideas for the resurrection cover that would be great

I thought you were just pretending it didn't exist. But yeah, it's tough. The original is just floating-heads and a flare. Other images...awful clones, that final, hideous hybrid? I did like the swimming Aliens, even though they were very early CG.

or one that looks enough like one that people won't question it's use on the cover

Looks good, especially in the sequence of covers - it's the only Alien.
