2001: A Space Odyssey

Here's one for 2001: A Space Odyssey I've been working on. I based the front off another one I found, but the quality was no good so I pretty much recreated it from scratch. I also made the back image from scratch.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks, I think I'm going to try working on the back a little more... Photoshop was a little heavy handed on the lens flare! But I'm keen to get this one finished, so it won't be far away :)

I think that is one of the coolest 2001 covers I've ever seen. It's also very clever of you to use the monolith on the back. BRAVO!!!

Does anyone have the cover graphic not at an angle?

Hey guys,

Forgive me if this has already been answered at some point. I browse through this thread quite a bit and am amazed at some of the talent displayed and I'd love to use some of these custom covers. I'm just wondering, do you use any special type of paper or printer when printing them off for use and do they need to be resized at all when printed or is all the sizing done beforehand in the editing process?

Keep up the great work and thanks for the help!

Anyone have Walmart's Transformers ROTF Custom Cover

Who can make a cover for Walmart's Big Screen Transformers ROTF?

One that looks just like the sleave with details on back. :o

I'll second this request...I bought the Wal-mart version, and the cover sucks!

Propellarhead9 10-21-2009 12:56 AM

Maybe something that includes the words IMAX

yes the cover SUCKS! Why can't they just make it like the slipcover that they put on each different version.

Sauron 10-21-2009 03:02 AM

I redid the back and like it better now. I leave off most technical information from tha back (personal preference). I just included the special features, run time, year, and aspect ratio.

Hope you like it.

Just a rough idea w/o the back obviously.

Hmm looks alittle awkward, none of the poster at would work on dvd but I love the dotted scheme. Somethign that plays with "Are you Watching Closely" theme.

Oh no!
I liked the first back cover!
I'm afraid it looks dull, the first back cover gave it life!
Made me want to see it again :D
edit: Sorry to be so harsh, it's still great work!

Looks good. The back looks like the custom set that was done for the standard DVD's. The Front is the same pic but different color scheme. Looks like this:

I posted something in the trade thread but dont think anyone really noticed it. I was wondering if someone was willing to print out (the right size of course) some custom art for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies. I bought the boxset and dont like the box. I have no access to a printer right now, neither my own or a copy store. PM Me if your willing to do so, I will pay via paypal.

THANKS

hardtosayx 10-21-2009 04:59 AM

I really like the first cover for Transformers: ROTF, but I'm a little iffy about the font for the back cover. I also like (from what I can see so far) the fourth cover that's on your site, but it's not available yet. When I get the movie I'll probably get one of the two.

maxbond007 10-21-2009 05:11 AM

I'll try to get another font for the back cover.
always good to have an advice
thanks

hardtosayx 10-21-2009 05:30 AM

I haven't used custom cover art before, so what's the best paper to use for it? Other than going to Kinko's or whatever to do it.

What do you call those reflective rings from the sun?
They give a lot of life to it.
The reason I prefer this is because it's more open and less intimidating.
I guess it's a matter of how you see the monoliths.
But it's only my opinion :D

I initially thought those lens flares were a bit to much, but now I'm changing my mind again. I think I like it with the bluer sky and brighter sun too now that I've looked at it again. I'll keep working on this one.

Q? 10-21-2009 07:14 AM

Glad I could come with my input :D
Good work I have to say.
This is one of my favourite movies of all time, that and Blade Runner.

stoplis 10-21-2009 10:22 AM

Twilight

I really wasn't very happy with my Twilight cover, so I went back and re-did it.
I think it now looks much better and I am very happy with the back.

WorkShed 10-21-2009 12:52 PM

Oh, maxbond007, why'd you start making your covers as a paysite?!

Elvis 10-21-2009 01:50 PM

Yeah just wondering umm 2.00 bucks for one cover is a little steep for me. For 10.00-20.00 bucks I can get 100 credits (100 covers) or a years worth of covers at all of the larger sites. Have you considered joining one or more if you are not already an artist at one of the sites? You are a wonderful cover designer though.

WorkShed 10-21-2009 04:19 PM

Unless they were being printed and sent to me at that price, you'll never catch me paying for covers. Sorry, dude. Your covers are truly amazing. I really like your second version of Dr. No, but I won't be buying.

Funny thing is, I probably would've put more in the donations than if I had to buy covers...

Blu-Benny 10-21-2009 04:23 PM

well i bought the wrong turn trilogy last night and all 3 movies come in one case.

can someone come up with some custom covers for the 3 movies or just post scans of the 3 individual covers??

thanks.

Anyone interested, here is my latest template I have done.

20th Century Fox

snipemonkey 10-21-2009 06:01 PM

Just finished this. Custom cover for THE ROCK to make it fit in with your Criterion Collection. FYI: It's sized to fit the clear Criterion blu cases.

Thought I'd post it here for anyone else who might be interested.

maxbond007 10-21-2009 06:06 PM

I've got certain covers in the paid section to prevent anybody outside the forums that I participate to come and download them without asking or a word of thanks.
As all of you know to create a custom covers it takes a lot of time and research(some takes less time).
But that doesn't mean that I'll refuse to sent covers to members of this forum or the other forums for free. You can always mp me or sent me an email to tell me which one you want, and I sent it to you.
In addition by doing that way, I can spare space and time on my website, because the high rez file are pretty heavy.
Donation is of course welcome if you deem my work deserves it, or else, it doesn't matter, I'm not doing that for a living.
I hope that clear out the misunderstanding.
