I wanted to create an official anime on Blu-ray section for blu-ray.com but focusing on USA releases. CG films such as the two "Final Fantasy" films and "Resident Evil: degeneration" will be included. As well as American productions that utilize Japanese animators such as certain Marvel Comics and DC related companies that utilize Japanese animation production companies.

CURRENT RELEASES: BANDAI ENTERTAINMENT/BANDAI VISUAL FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA BLASTERS NIS AMERICA SENTAI FILMWORKS VIZ PICTURES There also have been anime releases from Disney, Sony, Starz/Anchor Bay Also, check out these others threads on Blu-ray.com: For anime fans who want to explore great films from other countries on Blu-ray.com, please visit: - BFI Thread - Criterion Collection Discussion Thread - Official Golden Era of Hollywood Thread - Official KINO International/KINO Video Film Thread - Masters of Cinema (MoC) Thread - The Official Oscilloscope Laboratories Thread - Official Palisades Tartan Thread - Silent Film Thread - The Official Sony Pictures Classics Thread - StudioCanal Collection Thread |
Coming soon - Sword of the Stranger - (Genre: Samurai/action).
I think many anime fans who love action samurai period type of films will dig this. A lot of emphasis on the fight scenes. I interviewed the Director Masahiro Ando although no spoilers, best to read after you watched the film. |
Origin comes out this month(Miyazaki fans might enjoy it) and SOS Tokyo Metro Explorers: The Next is already available
|
out of the ones released on blu so far, what would you recommend ?
I own both final fantasy movies, and afro samurai. I have been eyeballing Paprika and Tekkonkinkreet for a while but was afraid I wouldn't like them enough to warrant the price. I would consider myself a anime beginner, but I enjoy things like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Akira, Blood - The last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll. Any suggestions ? |
Any idea on whether Death Note might be coming to blu?

There will be a lot of announcements being made two weeks from now at Anime Expo. We'll find out more about upcoming BD releases (knock on wood) by then. Quote:
Speaking of "Blood the Last Vampire", the live action film (in English) just came out in Japan, I hope that one comes out on Blu-ray here in the US!!! Here is the trailer. |
Amazon has a release date of August 25th for the Devil May Cry boxset. Has Funimation even officially announced this yet?

It's an action series that is not going to be for everyone. I think you will like the upcoming "Sword of the Stranger". |
Sword of the Stranger is great. That one is preordered. Shigurui I've only seen a few episodes. I'll get it eventually.
I want Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig on Blu-ray here. I think they are coming out in Japan soon. We can't even get the 3 movie box set released here yet... Karas has been rumored. The DVDs look & sound incredible. and where is Princess Mononoke? |
