No time soon, last I read it would Never come to the U.S. due to the Macross/Robotech lisence issues, which is very sad considering Macross Frontier is my favorite!

Darth Anakin 03-25-2010 07:07 AM

Boo, that was my best chance to see the first 3 Robotech series in HD! :(

Hehe... But it's great news ^_^. I'm sure Jeff Kleist will have some news when he gets back since he's currently in Japan for the Tokyo Anime Faire.

It is very exciting news, I would really like for studio ghibli to start pouring out blu-rays but 2 in one year is still nice :D

The link is just to blu-rays, but there are literally hundreds of DVDs on sale as well. Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa is only $14.49.

For those curious about the inside of the packaging to Ouran here you go http://blog.funimation.com/2010/03/h...an-soul-eater/

All depends on what you consider a good price for a normal movie blu-ray or tv series and then apply that to anime. I consider $15 for an anime movie blu-ray and $35 for an anime series amazing prices. As for what series are good, all depends on your taste of anime, if you let us know what you like, maybe we can give you more specific suggestions. Of course, Akira & Evangelion 1.11 are must haves for anime fans. Hope that helps you.

Amazon only has these sales when I am overstocked on anime to watch! Just started Gunslinger Girl S1 Blu-ray, and have Gunslinger Girl S2 Blu-ray, Trinity Blood Blu-ray, Ouran Blu-ray, & Bleach S4 P2 DVD unopened.

Hey guys, does anyone know when they're gonna release the 3 other evangelion remakes in the US? Just saw 1.11 and enjoyed it (I've seen every episode of the original).

Most likely yes and most likely Funimation will contine handling them. It's just a matter of when.

Moonphase and some other series from Funimation dvd releases are under this new label called S.A.V.E. where the MSRP is as low as $30 even for a series that's 24-26 episodes. OVAs MSRP is like around $10, and short series are like $20. They have a green sticker on the shrink wrap.

sounds good - thanks moonphase. I take it there's no planned release schedule as of this moment? I have to say that I want all my EVA on blu (or at least HD) after watching 1.11! I was tempted to just buy some of the remastered episodes off the PSN store but they're only in standard def...

Also, speaking of some more popular anime franchises (of old)...are there any plans for DBZ or Cowboy Bebop on blu-ray? I know the movies are out but I want the tv series.

i agree with your guys' critique of the 1.11 case (too tall), but I think as a standalone, the packaging is cool. But basically, now since they started with that packaging they have to continue with it for the next 3 movies... it'd be stupid to switch back now.

Think of DBZ Kai as like DBZ with no fillers and just well no wasting time episodes.

Evangelion 2.0 Blu-ray is to be released in Japan 5/26/10, so it should be released in the U.S. this fall. Evangelion 3.0 Blu-ray 2011 and maybe Evanglion 4.0 in 2012.
