Germany is getting 2.22 in July, so as long as Funimation is on the ball, it really shouldn't be too long. Just to get on my soapbox, I think a major reason for it taking so long has to do with dubbing. Now that 1.11 has its english VAs already established, the path to getting it all packaged should be quicker with 2.22. Although if it was my way, I'd completely nix an english dub and just release it with subs nice and quick <__<

The real test of patience is 3.0, which hasn't even hit theaters yet. Although some good news is apparently the first six episodes of the TV series are currently being remastered in anticipation for 3.0...so hopefully all that comes our way soon.

I would suggest Afro Samurai , Basilisk, Evangelion, Heroic Age, Samurai 7, and Samurai Champloo Series. Also, Eureka Seven the Movie.

I think, there is a much bigger problem:
Prevent reimports to Japan. The german version will probably be Code B only, so a normal japanese Customer can't watch this Blu-ray. It is much harder to get a code switchabele Blu-ray player compared to a Codefree DVD player.
But the USA and Japan have the same region code.

Even when we got a couple of the video games of it in America they even avoided using the Fighting Spirit name for it or the original Japanese name to try and sell more copies of the games by giving it a name like Victorious Boxers to probably even get Fight Night fans to buy it. If they used the name Fighting Spirit it probably even would of sold less copies then it already did which is why we only got 2 of the games to the series because they still couldn't sell.

Had a feeling it was a bomb since sports anime don't do well here. Its a shame too since i thought it was an awesome anime. Guess ill have to keep my dvds. :D

It's just like Big Windup which is a baseball anime which is another good sports series. 1st season sold horribly so Funimation was pretty much like ok we give up we won't get season 2 and possibly even not do the sports genre of anime anymore just because of the dvd sales of Big Windup were really that low.

Suzuka is somewhat of a sports series that they licensed some time ago. It didn't bomb for them, it just only sold just enough for Funimation to stick with it.

Adv i mean Section23 Films is releasing Eye-shield 21 in may. I hope it sells well enough to have them all on my shelf. Thankfully they are not dubbing. NFL Rush's dub and editing is still giving me nightmares.:p Hmm i think i heard about that anime. I dont think there is an sports related anime that has made it. The only two besides Fighting Spirit that i watched were Slam dunk, and Prince of tennis which were two bombs if i remember correctly for Geneon and Viz. A real shame since they were awesome.

But luckily they have great directors and actors at Section 23. Steven Foster and Jin Ho Chung(though most of time a Producer for the series) are my favorites that they have.

But Eyeshield 21 and other series that they are getting will be dubbed at some point with the usual voice actors you heard from when it was called ADV Films. It does make me wonder though since they got the license to season 2 of Hell Girl if they will use the same English cast from Funimation's 1st season or change them when they do dub it since for now it's subbed only.

I hate to say it but i doubt it but i hope im wrong. I have a feeling its going to be like the dub that Funimation has out for Initial D 4th stage. While i didn't love the dub that tokyopop had. I did get accustomed to their voices for the characters and now they changed it up.:( Also i don't mind if they dub eyeshield 21 but i hated the dub from NFL Rush. They could have had better people that had voices that matched the characters. The nail in the coffin was the editing, i think their episode one was comprised of 2 1/2 episodes. I remember thinking WTF did i just watch.
*Side Note* Does the Full Metal Alchemist Bluray come with a slipcover?

At 1st when I saw this I thought oh cool Media Blasters is working on anime on Blu-ray but now it's more like wait that's Kitty Media part of Media Blasters so that must mean it's hentai, dood.

Pretty cheap for a dvd/blu-ray combo pack for about 100 minutes.

Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend The Movie. I believe it was from like the 1980s.

From the creator of La Blue Girl, interesting indeed. I am assuming Amazon will not sell this title?

I don't see why they wouldn't but Rightstuf's price is pretty cheap anyways so if Amazon doesn't have it for sure can get it on Rightstuf, and who knows maybe a studio sale can happen sometime soon. For sure Best Buy won't have it and if they did be online only(yes Best Buy website has a few hentais on their website floating around just not very many).

Urotsukidoji is a really great, epic horror title (with sexual elements, but it's not sexy). The story is much higher quality than La Blue Girl. However, the Urotsukidoji movie is culled together from several OVA episodes, so it cuts some stuff out (much like Gunbuster the Movie). I'd like it have it in HD, but I don't know about the shortened running time.

Watching Sword of the Stranger, excellent film so far. Not quite Appleseed or Ninja Scroll level but few anime films are. ;)

Kyo28 03-29-2010 08:29 AM

In my humble opinion, Urotsukidoji (the OAV series) is a big piece of filth. Over half of the runtime is just monsters (or a guy with a monster-dick) raping girls. Not my idea of a good anime but to each their own.

On the other hand I've read reviews of Gundam Unicorn (both on this site and others) and I'm thrilled about the quality: superb picture quality, lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track in Japanese and a strong story set in the Gundam universe. I think Funimation could learn a thing or two from Bandai Visual. Time to put in an order

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I made the mistake of inviting a friend over to watch it as we like anime. I've never been so embarassed/shamed in my life. And I don't embarass easily. We got through about 10 minutes, and I've never felt like returning to it.
