FUNimation Entertainment has made the following announcement today. I'm guessing Blu-ray and DVD:

Flower Mound, Texas (March 29, 2010) - FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it has acquired U.S. and Canadian home video, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights to the supernatural anime “Black Butler” from Aniplex.

Produced by A-1 Pictures, “Black Butler” was released in 2008 in Japan. Based on the manga written and illustrated by Yana Toboso, the anime of the same name is directed by Toshiya Shinohara. The series follows the story of the 12 year old head of a noble family, Ciel Phantomhive, and his demon butler Sebastian.

For more information about the series, please visit http://www.funimation.com/blackbutler/.

FUNimation Entertainment will begin releasing the 24-episode series later this year.

Am I the only one who doesnt like the packaging on Ouran High School Host Club? I dont mind digi packs if theyre the same size as the standard but that baby doesnt even come close to sitting flush on the shelf. What should I do pull all my titles out 3/8" so the spines line up? First no slip cover on Gunslinger Girl and now this:mad:. I think Im gonna have to write funimation an angry letter.

I love the way Ouran looks. It just fits the way the anime is. I'm not really concerned about them lining up. I guess im not really ocd about it. I do agree though, about Gunslinger Girl having no slipcover. How could they do that when the second Gunslinger Girl had one. Ill write an angry letter with ya on that:mad:

AffenheimTheater reported that Evangelion 2.22 is getting the same tweaks that were found in 1.11. Some visual changes, as well as about 3 minutes of new footage. So thats good to hear.

No word on actual impressions since the jpn release is still some months off.

This isn't an anime blu-ray question but I started watching Code Geass Leouch of the Rebellion and wanted to know what the difference between Code Geass Leouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass Leouch of the Rebellion: R2. Is it the same thing or are they totally different?

R2 is the sequel, the second season so to speak. R2 is out on Blu-ray with pretty good quality in Japan.

Barring the FMA movie and Akira, are there any other anime available on multiregion bluray? There seems to be so many shows availble on BR in the US.

Gunslinger Girls 1+2, Claymore, Wings of Honeamise, Freedom, Escaflowne the Movie, The Sky Crawlers.
For Shigurui, Origin - Spirits of the Past or Afro Samurai you can find very cheap Region B versions at amazon.co.uk .

Appears Funi might be the ones who got Summer Wars. So they may or may not have also gotten Tokikake.

@aht_blog Will release it simultaneously with SummerWars. Waiting on Funi to dub it, so probably not until Autumn.

Yeah I saw that on the AnimeOnDVD forums and think someone might have accidentally slipped out the news a little early.

I hope Bandai puts out The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Blu-ray in America soon and Funi releases Summer Wars on Blu in America as well this year.

I hope so also, otherwise I am importing both.

Been busy checking out the March releases anime on BD. Just a heads up, not sure if anyone mentioned it but the special features that are not on the Blu-ray of "Gunslinger Girl ~Il Teatrino~" are:

- Japanese Cast Interview - Marco
- Original TV commercials

from the OAV's:
- Japanese Cast Interview: Voice of Hilshire

That's pretty much it. But it would have been nice for FUNimation to not skip these over.

We haven't received any press release but with the con season, I'm sure they have been busy. Aside from the release I posted, for us on the reviewing end have been busy with the Shaw Brothers releases from FUNimation, "Sgt. Frog", "Soul Eater" and "Strike Witches". But man...this is like a crazy month for anime releases on BD (and DVD). I did ask our Sentai Filmworks rep if there is any chance for "Kanon" on Blu...but nothing at this time.

Why would Sentai release Kanon? They lost the license and Funimation rescued it, unless Sentai is going to try and get it back.

Also I think Gunslinger Girl season 1 is missing the Building Triela extra but that's not really an important extra.

Speaking of Clannad I think Steve Foster kind of dropped the ball when directing it or maybe it's just during this time of no dubbing they got rusty. Like i'm listening to the Kanon dub right now and think the voices are pretty spot on which was directed by Kyle Jones I believe and then I watched Clannad dub on Anime Network On Demand(with me still owning the subbed only sets) and i'm sorry but Steve Foster must have forgot how to direct anime series. The voices are not horrible but it doesn't give off the awesome feeling that the dub for Kanon and Air gave. I think Clannad could of sounded better if Kyle Jones directed it.

I decided to sample Anime with Amazon's sale. I got Afro Samurai S1, Shigurui, and Samurai 7. I finished Shigurui. I really enjoyed it. I was a little surprised...lol. I will start Samurai 7 in a day or two.
