Nice to hear you are enjoying Blu-ray Anime! If you enjoy those three titles, you should pickup Basilisk and Sword of the Stranger Blu-ray.

We are covering Sakura-con in Seattle. If we have any Blu-ray info. from the companies, will post on here or you can refer your question to Michelle (Twitter: Gshock99).

FUNimation Entertainment Acquires Eden of the East Movies from Fuji Creative

Flower Mound, TX (April 3, 2010) – FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it has acquired the home entertainment, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights to three anime movies which continue the story of the series “Eden of the East” (known in Japan as “Higashi no Eden”) from Fuji Creative Corporation.

The three films are “Eden of the East Movie 1: The King of Eden”, “Eden of the East The Movie II: Paradise Lost” and “Air Communication”, all written and directed by acclaimed director Kenji Kamiyama (“Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”, “Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit”) and produced by Production I.G.

The story continues where it left off from the Eden of the East TV series, and brings Morimi Saki back to the USA in order to find Takizawa Akira. The other Selecao however are actively moving to take part in the game, and a few in particular are making dangerous moves in order to eliminate Takizawa or move towards their picture of a better Japan.

FUNimation Entertainment will release the films on DVD and Blu-ray in 2011.

###

Also, regarding the releases of the television series on DVD, we will be using the opening, with original music, as used in Japan in addition to the international version of the show opening.

Great News about Eden of the East Blu-rays, to bad we have to wait until 2011!

kndy ~ FUNimation Entertainment announces X the TV series and OVA for June 5th. Is that for blu-ray of this year??? (Please say yes) :D

Also saw a U.S. date for Summer Wars Blu-ray 8/24, not for sure if that is official yet.

Now if only Bandai would announce some more anime blu-rays!

Hi Kev, the question was just asked and they just said the only title they want to confirm for Blu-ray right now is "Eden of the East" as they are still negotiating for other Blu-ray releases.

As for "Summer Wars", they emphasized again to the audience that will not discuss anything that they haven't announced at the panel, so no announcement or discussion of "Summer Wars".

No Bandai panel at SakuraCon...possible Anime Boston? (Anyone at that event?)

Thanks kndy! Sounds like fun there. Boston is way to far for me...

@Kndy Did they have the Trigun Movie at Sakuracon. Couldn't find the time to head up there so i settled for Matsuri in H-town.
Just got back from Anime Matsuri and i got to meet Crispin Freeman.I was able to get my Kurokami signed and Hellsing.:D Leah Clark was there also but i forgot my Blu's(Heoric Age,Dgrayman,Soul Eater,....etc) so she signed a DGrayman manga i had on me.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68...4/IMG_0440.jpg I also got my hands on a Gundam Unicorn. Thankfully i can read Japanese but i still have a feeling its going to take a while.:o

Nice to hear the Eden of the East news. I hope I like the show. Was becoming a bit disinterested in the middle when the subbers dropped it, but will blind-buy in hopes that the end turns around for me.

I'm not a huge Chobits fan, but nice to see another older title getting the BD treatment. Even if it's just another upscale, the more anime BDs we get on shelves, the more titles we get later.

MOONPHASE 04-04-2010 04:42 AM

Ugh 2011 until we see Chobits? Boo that's to long. As for Funimation Channel going HD, that's great and all but I have Time Warner Digital Cable.

I hear Spice and Wolf season 2 was HD unlike the 1st season so hopefully Funi is able to obtain that master.

hey maybe by waiting till 2011 we will get a good transfer. Lol I definitley don't want another dgrayman. Funimation channel in HD is awesome but I have twc aswell. :( Also does anyone know if FLCL still slated to be released this year. I hope they don't ask an outrageous price for 6 eps. I'm also wondering about dgrayman since it doesn't have a date on amazon anymore.

Yeah, they showed it today and tomorrow morning. I haven't seen it yet... Was it any good?

Usually, we have someone covering both Anime Boston and even Anime Matsuri but not this year. But it's interesting to see all these cons happening all today... [inc. Wonder Con in the Bay Area, CA]... But hope the con experience at Matsuri is much better this year.

I don't think I get any of the anime-based channels in my area of California. As for "Chobits", I think its due to scheduling. I remember last Fall and they said they had their whole slate for 2010. But then again, back then there was no plan for DBZ Kai...

vashanime04 04-04-2010 06:01 AM

Matsuri this year was actually alright. Each year it seems like they are gradually getting better. This year I was heartbroken that they were more geared to cosplay than have some awesome VA's but they did bring crispin Freeman back. I missed out on his autograph session last year. They introduced IR drift this year which was awesome. They need to keep it up and get some new things every year and I'll continue to go. Oh anime network had a panel but I ended up going to mr freemans q&a..Big mistake. Lol How's sakuracon?

DaveFi 04-04-2010 06:04 AM

I have Chobits on DVD already. It should be their typical SD upscale crap on BD. I think I'll pass. The Eden of the East movies are good though and should be native HD.

Last I heard FLCL was like fall.
