No idea. Don't matter! I won't go to a theater in my town.

Just got back from doc's, baby is still a girl. Everything is okay, healthy, right size, and at least 5 toes on every foot.

Gonna watch True Romance soon.

Ah, that's right. You DID tell me about the idiots at theaters there. Luckily today, there was Maybe 6-8 people TOTAL in the whole theater (thank GOD School/College is back in session!). And, best part: Nobody opened their cell phones:whip:

Enjoy TRUE ROMANCE, let me know what you think after viewing. You should enjoy it
[Show spoiler](LDB from Afar!! :p)

Glad everything's going well with your wife/baby girl. When is she due again?

Hi Travis:)
Great to hear your appointment went well:rock:

Travis 10-04-2010 01:30 AM

San Diego 41 Arizona 10. They always seem to have a slow start to the season, sleepy I guess. Hope to see more checks in the W column from now on.

Hey Travis, congrats on the Chargers big win. My Skins won as well.
I'm going to PM you in a bit regarding your big day and what to expect.

callas01 10-04-2010 02:30 PM

Hey Travis... hows it going...

Fors* 10-04-2010 02:31 PM

Still some time. February 12th is the due date they've given us. Wife is doing fine; getting bigger. So far fairly normal, no extra hormone induced moodiness.

Tomorrow off to shop for some furniture for the baby's room. Dresser and maybe some shelves too.

It's going well. Just finished the original Halloween, will watch part 2 tomorrow. Have to watch them alone; wife isn't a horror fan. Even once, I was watching The Exorcist and she was in the bathroom; she wouldn't come out till the music was over.

I remember that, and if I remember correctly, it isn't cheap either! I hope you find some good deals. Getting the room ready is one step closer to realizing that you're going to be a daddy! :ohnoes: :)

LMAO...

OMG, that is hillarious... now you know what to do when she upsets you... put on a scary movie and you can have some quality ME time.

I don't even remember where we got ours, but it wasn't no $150. :(

We are less than a year from having to get rid of it all and move up to big boy furniture, and I know my wife is too sentimental to let it go, so it will be my job.....

Can see that being hard. Wife is already cooing over the clothes that my mom sent.

Other than the crib. Gonna get normal sized dressers and wardrobe (most houses in Taiwan don't have built in closets). Hoping we can get stuff we can use for years. And for changing table, looking to find a changing pad that can put on a dresser or a pack 'n' play thing with one.

Lot of stuff to look for. I appreciate any advice on what is worth buying and what will just gather dust after 1 month.

I do like having the room to myself sometime. No one asking me if I am awake. Gonna watch horror movies from now till the 31st. Started with Let The Right One In last night, Swedish audio track. Sure kicks the snot out of Twilight as far as Vampire movies go, actually as far as movies go. Wife has read all the Twilight books twice and is now on her third go. I read a bit of the first and had to give up.

A changing table is not a must, but it does have it's conveniences. You will probably be changing him/her for about 2 years or more, so you would get some use out of one. But it isn't a must. If the dresser is the right height, and you can properly secure the changing pad to the dresser, then that will work IMO. We never bought a play pen...we just put the kids on the floor. Once they were able to crawl and stand, we just kept a closer eye on them. Yes, it can be time consuming, so a play pen has it's advantages for sure. A crib is a must (check for any recalls so that you don't get one that is subject to one, they can be dangerous if not properly made.) My son has been sleeping on a mattress we put on the floor since he was 6 months old. he likes having the "space" around him without hitting the side rails. We put side bed rails around the mattress in case he would roll off. I am not so sure about a video monitor being a must. I think some kind of monitor is, but a video monitor can be bright at night and you can find yourself at times consumed about what to do when you wake up and see the position you may find them in the middle of the night. But that is a personal preference.

Thanks for the monitor info. Have been thinking on that.

Changing for 2 years,. I know. I visited a friend of mine in Thailand, he married a Thai woman and moved to the middle of a jungle, and his kid never wore a diaper.

Someone was usually around and could tell when he needed to go. Or they just mopped up the pee or picked up the poo like you would with a puppy. No rashes and they learn fairly quick, especially since everyone there is fairly open and seeing someone peeing against a tree or in the bushes in really common.

I never held his son in my lap though. Was way too paranoid.

Hammie 10-04-2010 03:15 PM

We had a changing table/dresser and used it once. We rarely had him in his room when the diaper needed changed, so it never got used. That's the thing with having three floors. I would never carry my son three floors up to change his diaper. Instead we had mini stations on each floor.

Certain now that a diaper changing table will not be bought. Instead will buy some Blu-rays with savings.:D

3 story house... my goodness... the only houses out here like that are mansions... we have a one story closet... changing table just kept us more organized...

Lets face it, you just need a space to lay them on their back and for them to be comfortable. They don't need anything else when they are getting their diaper changed. You just need to have diapers, a basin perhaps and some powder/cream handy at that location.

I taught the dog to go outside in 2 weeks, got her when she was 6 months old. A child has got to be smarter than a dog, right? So I am guessing can teach kid where to go before 6 1/2 months. After it eats, or wakes up, take it to where it should go, wait for it to go, give it a treat and praise it for being a good a girl/boy. Fatherhood is gonna be a cinch!:D

yeah, changing table wasn't on the list for us,.... it just got included in the deal... it is the weakest link of the whole set we bought, however the dresser and crib we just as nice as ones sold individually for twice as much... the changing table was probably like your dealer giving you speaker cables for free.. here, sweeten the deal.

Never changed a diaper before, never held a baby before.

Sure I'll learn lots in my Chines Lamaze class. Too bad my Chinese sucks. Gotta buy that Dr. Spock book, surprised Leonard Nimoy was a baby expert.

11:30pm here, time for bed.

Always good talking to you dads about what to expect. Eases some of the anxieties.

There is really no universal way to be a father, just trust your instincts...and yes, you even have daddy instincts too that you will find you can trust. See ya Travis.

My only bit of advise is if and when you throw your baby in the air, make sure you catch it. Nothing worse than dealing with a crying baby and hysterical mother still with pregnancy hormones.

A few good Blu-rays out today. Anyone get any of these?

Beauty and the Beast
The Exorcist
The Last of the Mohicans
Mad Max
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
The Maltese Falcon
The Mission (Never seen this, any good?)

Wonder how the ones in BOLD will look/sound on Blu'. The other 3 below them are def. Older films so you never know what you might get. THE MISSION is with DeNiro & Jeremy Irons. ("A man of the sword and a man of the cloth unite to shield a South American tribe from brutal subjugation by 18th century colonial empires.")
Never seen it, so not sure if it's good or no. Kind of bizarre that it's out today, but this site has No AQ listed yet (?), nor a Review. THE MALTESE FALCON is DTS-HD MA 2.0 & the Review gives this 1941 film very high marks for AQ & PQ, as well as a nice supplement of Special Features. THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (also starring H. Bogart) is the 2nd B&W film here, released in 1948, this time with DTS-HD MA Mono Mix. Another good Review for this release, with a nice selection of Special Features also.

I wonder if these will be a bit cheaper on BLACK FRIDAY, as they're all in the $16.99 - $17.49 range.

** Before you think about buying LAST OF THE MOHICANS, read some of the user reviews (only 2 are out there now, but they both have the same concerns about the PQ), until this site gets a review up. **

That's too bad about the PQ on The Last of the Mohicans. I think Todd was really looking forward to that one. I am content with the DVD. Have only watched it twice I think.

I will get Mad Max on Black Friday, and probably get The Exorcist from the UK, no digibook and cheaper. Think it is the same as US release. Play.com and HMV list it as 2 discs, Amazon has it as 1 but then in written description it says 2, but they always screw up info on discs.
