Thanks,

Just watching Sons of Anarchy and keeping on eye on Amazon, hoping for some sales. Have a good day too.

Since Black Friday was a bit of a letdown at Amazon.com, I just ordered a few from Amazon.co.uk; the beast has been fed!

The Eagle Has Landed £9.30 ($14.49)
Doctor Zhivago £8.50 ($13.25)
Quincy Jones' 75th Birthday Celebration – Live At Montreux 2008 £9.35 ($14.57)
Opera, Ballet & Theatre (The Blu-ray Experience II) [2010] [Blu-ray] £3.82 ($5.95)

Great price, but the review (Blu-ray.com/uk) shows it as "region free", but on Amazon.uk, it says Region 2, which Won't work here.

PRODUCT DETAILS:
# Format: Colour, PAL, Subtitled, Widescreen
# Language English
# Subtitles: Dutch, Danish, Portuguese, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Spanish
# Region: Region 2 (This DVD may not be viewable outside Europe. Read more about DVD formats.)

WTF?! I want this at That great price! (197 minutes, a Ton of Great extras/special features). It'd be saving $17 off the Amazon price ($29.99)

Amazon, whether here or in the UK are notorious for erroneous descriptions especially with BDs. I use this site for region-free info.

Damn, it says this title Is region free, but had a "note" to the side, which said the 2nd disc is region-locked. WTH.

Thanks though - I'll bookmark that site for future ref.

hold that thought - I ordered it but forget if it was here (Amazon) or Best Buy online (for $9.99). Brb.

Ok - Yes, bought it at $12.99 (the same as BOOK OF ELI) <---which "was" at $14.99 a few days ago but dropped down $2, lowest it's been. Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia, & Predators -- all bought
[Show spoiler](the last 2 for $9.99ea/Best Buy online
) w/out having had seen them; but in checking with many people in other threads, most seemed to feel that these 3 - while not doing big Box Office or getting "great" or "good" reviews overall - Were better than what most/many people (fans/reviewers, etc.) had said previously.

Region 1-6 is for DVDs. Amazon, never has the right info, gotta look elsewhere. They still list BDs as being Region 2, but they should say A,B or C.

All Warner UK BDs are region free. I know it does come with a DVD that has most of the special features, which is PAL and Region 2, I have some other PAL DVDs kicking around; I think my projector may play both PAL and NTSC DVDs will try. Even If I cannot watch the DVD ever, I don't care about it. The movie and a documentary are on the BD. Here they sell the BD/DVD edition for about $30, not willing to pay that. Who watches DVDs anyway?

While I regret watching it in 3D at the theaters not knowing it was one of those 2D to 3D converted movies I did find it entertaining enough and I thought it would look and sound awesome in blu.

I like the old one, not great on BD, may never look stellar though, worth a buy.

Often, I go to this site and search Warner BDs and click on the UK flag at the top, no DigiBooks and region free. Sometimes can get good deals. Warner US charges too much for the DigiBooks and takes too long to put out Amaray editions.

Travis 11-27-2010 07:26 AM

How many you will give in on Monday or Tuesday and order the BDs that you have been waiting for that didn't go on sale this week?

For example, some like Carrie $10 BD or $15 BD+DVD is not what I want to pay, but I think after Cyber Monday, I am just gonna do it.

Thinking on:
A Christmas Carol '51 $14.49
Escape from New York $10.49 :disappointed:
Groundhog Day $11.49 :unimpressed:
Santa Claus: The Movie $16.99 :insane:
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation $12.99:meh:
It's a Wonderful Life $19.99 :faint:
Miracle on 34th Street $22.99:jawdrop:
Mad Max $18.99:quizzical:
Peanut's Holiday Collection $34.99 :faint: Three 25 minute shows and some special features. WTF!

Well, Amazon.uk saying "Region 2" must obviously be talking about the DVD (region locked) since the BD 'is' Region Free as you noted. You may not care about the dvd, which is fine. But, there are a lot of nice things listed for the extras/special features that SOME of us Do enjoy along with a classic film such as this. I Do have the Special Edition 2001 DVD (Digital Transfer from Restored Elements, soundtrack remeastered in DD 5.1, feature-length audio commentary by Omar Sharif, Rod Steiger, & Sandra Lean [Director David Lean's wife], Intro by Omar Sharif, 30th Anniv. Documentary "Doctor Zhivago: The Making of a Russian Epic", 10 Vintage Documentaries, music-only audio track, vintage audio track interviews, & Dec. 1965 NY Premiere coverage) - Btw, I just realized MY Love of this movie was actually my memory of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (Peter O'Toole, 1962), but I always think of these together because of their Epic lengths
[Show spoiler](Dr. Z: 200 minutes, Arabia: 217 Minutes, 227 with Musical Overtures)
& older movie stars.

*** BTW - I have Oliver Stone's Unrated Director's Cut of NATURAL BORN KILLERS & the Unrated 2-disc BD of WALK HARD: The Dewey Cox Story (starring the hilarious & under-rated John C. Reilly) in my cart at Amazon. Both are just $7.99 - Hmmmm... To Pull the Trigger or Not. THAT, is the question... ;) *** ---- EDIT: Ordered that WALK HARD: The Dewey Cox Story. Will wait on Natural Born Killers. Decent movie; maybe the price will be low in a few weeks still. ***

Congrats on the purchase. Never seen Dewey Cox, looks interesting. Watched Natural Born Killers the other month on DVD, won't be upgrading to BD. All the different kinds of film style and blurred, grainy shots, not sure how much it would benefit from being in 1080p. Also I didn't care for it as much as I used to, not sure how many more times I'll even watch it. It does have an awesome soundtrack though.

Picked up season 2 & 3 of Dexter on DVD tonight. Not on BD in Taiwan yet and not sure when it will get here if ever.

Very lazy (relaxing) weekend. Lots of time.:D

Spent most of the time watching Sons of Anarchy and Dexter.

Finished my Christmas shopping for everyone back home. Love Amazon.com .ca and .co.uk.

Spent some of the time on Amazon looking for the Black Friday Week sales that never really materialized.

Since I had the computer here all day, I also made (revised) a few lists, wishlist, 25 must sees, 10 favorites and 10 most overrated.

How is your long weekend going? Haven't seen many of you guys around the forums the last couple days.

Don't just read that list above, sing it (to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas)!

Amazon Prime is great, but since they ship so quickly there is little time to change your mind.

Why is fast shipping important? Well, got credit card statement for last month's buys: Alien, Pacific, Sons of Anarchy, 5 more BDs, plus a dozen kid's books. Higher than I expected.

And next bill will have all purchases made in last week: Apocalypse Now, 9 more BDs, a CD, and Christmas shopping for Ma, Ma's boyfriend, Pa, Sis and her husband, and the 2 nieces.

Well did a little adding for next bill and decided to cancel the BDs of I, Robot and Little Miss Sunshine, haven't shipped yet, and I really don't NEED them. Weren't even on my wishlist. Just ordered them cause they were cheap-ish. Now I'd like to save the $15. Peanut butter for lunch, no bread or crackers, 'tis the season that sacrifices must be made. Fa la la la la la la la la!:D

Also made a promise to myself; just gonna buy BDs on wishlist.
[Show spoiler]Thank God my wishlist has 78 BDs on it!
