Watched Let Me In. I love it. Surprised that I do, it is almost identical to Swedish original. Not just the story, but even the props and sets look familiar. Other than being in English, it is just about the same film. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that I like the remake. If I were a fan of Romeo & Juliet and saw it performed 20 times by different troupes I'd like it as long as it was done well.

And Michelle slept through almost the entire movie; so nice to watch a movie without crying in the background.

I liked that they followed the original so closely too!:)
I think the boy is even stranger in the new one, if that's possible:p

Got to rewatch original. The girl in the first should be a big star someday.

Rainy day today, good day for a few movies. Also gonna try to read some more Beatrix Potter to Michelle. Finished Peter Rabbit no problem. The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, we got 2 pages in and she started to cry.

Have a good one Travis

Travis 04-17-2011 06:47 AM

Just finished grocery shopping, put an apple crisp in the oven, thinking about making a couple sandwiches for lunch. Almost 3:00, we had a late breakfast, and should eat now. Just too tired. Wife, baby and dog are all in bed.

Sadly just have chocolate ice cream in the freezer. Need to run out and pick up some vanilla.

Chilly rainy day here, good for movies and baking. Watched Ghostbusters this morning. Got Spartacus in the PS3 now. Got it from the UK and it has Mandarin subtitles for wife. Always feel like I am beating the system when I import a BD with Mandarin subtitles rather than paying the outrageous prices here.

Sup Travis? Me and the wife are about to start watching Weeds Season 6 in a few. Cooked out on the gas grill earlier, and ate real good. Now it's time to relax and watch a little TV. What's happening with you tonight?

Just finished a late lunch, a salami sandwich; now waiting for apple crisp to finish; then will watch Spartacus.

Saw the first 2 seasons of Weeds, pretty good. What did you BBQ?

A slab of Baby Back ribs, brats, burgers, wings, two ribeyes, and hot dogs. Man am I full. I done it all on the gas grill in about an hour. There is no way to get that done with a charcoal grill. I just got the gas grill three week ago, and have cooked out about seven times already. :D

How was the BD of Ghostbusters? I'd imagine the PQ would be a bit soft, AQ average

Def. let me know about the Spartacus disc when you're done. :)

Ghostbusters? Yeah, not the sharpest picture out there. Just watched the DVD a month or so ago, all I can say is WOW! A nice upgrade in quality. Buying a BD are really about getting an upgraded edition over the DVD and a movie true to the original.

I know a lot here scream about DNR, which is funny because when Gladiator originally came out some were screaming foul, no grain, a little later Ghostbusters came out and many were screaming foul, too much grain.

Very happy about rebuying Ghostbusters.
PQ: 4.5 (as good as it can be)
AQ: 4.0 (nothing amazing about; nothing wrong with it either)

Taking a break from Spartacus, had to take dog out and return some movies. Well, I have seen it on DVD and VHS maybe a handful of times, such a long movie. From memory, it has never looked better. Again, some will scream foul, not a grainy movie. The detail is there though, Spartacus's dusty, dirty smock shows a lot of texture. If absence of grain is due to original film stock and/or some DNR, I don't care. The picture is pretty.

Cool, thanks. I actually have Ghostbusters, just need to watch it. I'll snag Spartacus eventually.

Should I want it on Blu-ray?

Travis 04-18-2011 12:51 AM

Here the postal dudes deliver parcels on Sunday, no idea what time. Not sure when it came, usually just check mail in the AM. I got Taxi Driver. Found it arund midnight. Not sure how I feel 'bout the case. Paper fold out, has some postcards and 1 disc. Almost same size as Apocalypse Now 3 disc set. If I knew it was here, I would have watched it. I did see for the 1st time The King of Marvin Garden's, picked up the DVD for about $2. I really enjoyed it.

I'd love to call in sick and stay home and watch it, but my boss just left the house. She will probably know I am faking. Will try to watch it tonight.
