My Vintage 2-channel system

Turntable;

Marantz 6200 with an Audio Technica AT90 Cartridge mounted in a Marantz headshell. - This turntable was manufactured between 1976 - 1978. I replaced the belt and will eventually have to replace the needle. But for now, I simply enjoy spinning the wax.

Receiver;

Marantz 2252B - This was manufactured between 1977 - 1979. This beast is rated at 52x2 @ 8 ohms 65x2 @ 4 ohms of “tube like” power. I really like the look, feel and sound of this piece.

Speakers;

Pioneer HPM-100 - These are a 4 way, 4-speaker Bass-Reflex loudspeaker system designed by Bart Locanthi and his team of ex-JBL engineers who designed the famous L100, 4311/12 JBLs and then went to work for Pioneer. These beauties were manufactured between 1976 - 1977.

*Not sure I like the cabinet. But it fits the vintage look, I think. Keeping my eyes open for something else that might grab me.

Hi Waboman!

Nice vintage gear. I've heard those Pioneer speakers before, and they'll rock for sure. BTW, I am convinced you must work in TV/movies somehow with connections to get those awesome signatures you have!

I have the Kiss Alive on double CD.

I said it before and I'll say it again... Great vintage setup!!!! :rock:

Thanks, guys. I'm having a blast spinning the wax. I had forgotten how good it sounds. In fact, I haven't listened to a CD since I got this up and running a couple of weeks ago.:o

Another PPP

I've been having so much fun with my vintage system, my HT started to feel bad. So I got another PS Audio PPP to make it all better.:D

Well now, this is it for me. I'm done. I'm waving the HT white flag.http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/BBS/i...der_smilie.gif

This current setup should hold me for quite some time to come. What about HDMI 1.4 and 3D you ask? Well, I will tell you, Nein! Perhaps HDMI 1.4 if Denon makes it an upgrade for the AVP. I would like a couple of room treatments in the future, but no more.

Time to Have some fun.:D

Look What The Easter Bunny Brought...

Rounding the corner, I happened to look up and caught a glimpse of a furry little tail hopping mighty fast out the door. When I went to investigate, I found an iPad in my basket tonight. I know, I know, I pledged not to buy any more upgrades or gear for my HT. But this isn't technically in the HT category. So technically I didn't break my pledge.;) Besides, i'm blaming it on the Easter bunny.:p

Very nice. I about bought one today myself but road tripped to ikea in minneapolis and spent a ton there on shelving to replace my dresser. I'll buy an ipad later this month or next.

I'm 15-20 minutes away from Ikea... and I have cold beer!;) Kidding aside, the iPad is pretty freakin' cool. I feel like I'm on Star Trek playing with their toys.:D

Btw, I'm typing this on my new iPad.:p

I plan on using it for internet/media purposes while I'm laying in bed or out in the living room projector setup watching a moving. I like my iPhone setup and I can see how it would be a lot more useful with a bigger screen. I'd use a heck of a lot more apps. I had to put that on hold to buy this shelving. I spent way more than I wanted to at ikea. I also saw a bed I want and other things. That place could be bad news if I actually had time to spend in there. I had a list of what I need when I got there with an hour to spare. The place was like one big damn maze before I got to what I wanted.

Pretty much exactly what I'm using it for. My iPhone feels puny in comparison.

Yeah, Ikea is huge. Did you make it across the street to the Mall Of America? On the south side is a fairly decent Mexican restaurant. Next time you're up here, margaritas on me. I hear ya, furniture adds up quickly! I bet you got some pretty kick ass stuff, though.

Well I got 2 rows of shelves to replace my dresser and then on big shelving unit to be wall mounted above my tv in my bedroom (which I've re-done if you haven't seen it give it a look...I just bought a dslr also this week so the picture quality is almost to my liking). I realized though I could use 4 rows of shelves instead of 2. So the question is do I wall mount the one right away or do I put it on top of the other 2 shelves till I buy 2 more. I was going to go with gloss black and gloss white shelves but they no longer carry them as of a couple weeks ago it appears. I'll see if I can find some at a later date.

I forgot you lived in Minnesota. Margaritas sound good to me. I've actually got a few friends up there and family I need to visit. Plus another return trip to Ikea. I didn't visit the Mall of America. I remember being there when I was younger and wasn't impressed. The place is like one big zoo and tons of walking. I like getting what I want quickly. Mall of America isn't exactly ideal for multi-stuff shopping in a hurry. Minnesota has the worst...absolutely the worst drivers I have ever seen. You guys make Chicago and California look good. What is worse even yet is that I live in Ames where Iowa State University is. A ton of Minnesotans go to school here and bring their awful driving with them. I almost get hit or cut off numerous times a day. This town is 50000 and isn't exactly that big for stupidity driving like that. You wouldn't believe how many people from Minnesota admit that the driving is bad there. Cops/state patrol were out thick tonight also.

Congrats on the new DSLR. They take phenomenal pics. We just got back from our family vacation and the pics (mainly my wife) took are incredible. You're gonna have a lot of fun with that.:thumbsup:

Assembling and arranging furniture, to me, is the worst. I hate it. But one does need a place to put his things, and it must look good.

I agree, the MOA is not an in and out shopping place. For me, there's a couple of stores (Nordstrom's and Tommy Bahama) I know exactly where they are and where to park. I'm in and out like the Flash. Oh yeah.;)

You know, MN drivers piss me off too. Now I'm originally from the west coast. Still have a lot of family out there. And I tell you, I need a frikkin' laser beam on my car to incinerate the awful drivers in front of me. Troopers are the worst. Watch out for them.

Well for a good hour into minnesota driving a guy was pissing me in his mini van with his son it appeared in the front seat. I was in the passing/fast lane doing about 75 in a 70mph zone. He kept creeping up on me in the right lane like he was going to pass me but as soon as he approach about where my bumper is in the other lane he would fall back. Did that a good 10 times. So I would gradually speed up to get ahead of him and he'd follow me. Like I was the designated speeder (at 5mph over...yea right). So I do 90-95 and I'm way ahead of him. Sure enough he follows me and pulls the same nonsense in the other lane. I lost him once I hit the the suburbs. I hate drivers I pass and then all of a sudden they are passing me 1-2 more times. It's called cruise people...use it. You don't have cruise it isn't that hard to maintain your speed. I have bad road rage but driving in Minnesota just really irritates me more than any other place I've drove. 3 lane interstate and I get cut off a bunch when there is no cars...nothing around for them to justify needing to get in front of me like that. They pull the same stuff in Ames. 95% of the time I'm cut off here in Ames they have a Minnesota license plate (although I'm not against saying 100%). :angry:

I can't decide if I could actually find any use for an iPad, but I have to admit...they sure look cool!:cool:
