That sucks. :(

At least you have a spare lamp handy. :D That's one of my biggest fears about just getting my first projector. I've been babying my pj as much as possible. I really need to buy a spare lamp soon. Good luck with the change out Wabo. :)

Hugo and Puss in Boots arrived from Amazon today (2D versions). Have you watched Hugo yet? Just wondering how good it is? Yeah, before you know it, you'll be in the high-falutin' world of 3D. Where only a few elite members dwell. Just remember us little guys in our drab 2D world. ;)

Ok - that's 2 movies - you texted me earlier you recv'd FOUR blu-rays & a video game or two. What other movies came in?

Hello Wabo.
Do you have the whole lamp module or are you changing out just the bare lamp?

That should be much easier than changing the HID bulbs in my wood trim-laden car. :p

That's cool, it should be pretty straight forward. The only pain can be if the projector has to be removed from the mount.

bguzman 03-02-2012 05:14 AM

Looks like two screws to remove the cover and then two more for the module. Then remove old and install new. Simply reverse the process to finish the job. Lamp is on the back so the projector doesn't have to be taken down .

Yes boobies rock indeed.

Hey Frog,

I've had my current bulb for 2 1/2 years and got over 2900 hrs on it. I'd say that's pretty good. And it really was easy to change.

[Show spoiler]Yes, boobies rock.:D

I can't remember all four now.

Not sure if it's a success just yet. Still haven't turned it on with the new lamp yet.

That's cuz you went non-OEM.:p

Hey Wabo,

Got the PPP all dialed in at 120 like you mentioned. I'm loving this thing so far, it's much clearer at low volumes. Don't have to turn it up as much anymore to get the sound I'm looking for, should have gotten one sooner.

It was a piece of cake. The pj did not have to come down. I used this opportunity to remove and clean the inner filter, which was long overdue, and also wipe down the "prism." I then slapped in the lamp, screwed in the screws and she's done. I'm still waiting for the filter to dry. The hardest part was navigating the ladder from the garage thru the house without hitting anything.

Here's the old lamp. It's a high pressure mercury lamp so it will need to be recycled properly.

That's awesome, Aces.

Any problems dialing it in? Yes, it's a great component and complement to any system. Now you needs to get another one.;)

Because the OEM is yellowish but not as yellow as BMW's OEM. :whip:

bguzman 03-02-2012 05:33 AM

Close to 3000 hours and 21/2 years is pretty good, keep up the good work.

I would love another but it's going to have to wait, the two channel is stealing resources from the HT again.

The only trouble I had at first was adjusting to the sensitivity of it, once I got that down it was easy.

That will depend on which IA I decide to buy, I'm considering a coup,e of different ones. Depending on which route I take it might be awhile, my new two channel speakers deserve something nice.

Have you ever considered one?
